"Fukuyama, properly understood, was not saying that events would cease after 1989, nor that there would be no further world-historical struggle. What he argued was that liberal democracy had become the only real game in town. Therefore, future battles would necessarily be fought in its defence…"

liberalcurrents.comThe End of History and the Final GirlAnton Jäger’s "Hyperpolitics" is, at its best, late marginalia for "The End of History and the Last Man." At its worst, Jäger, like Fukuyama, is a prisoner of his political pieties.

lol holy shit I wouldn't talk about literally anything else if I was the guy running against him. —"What do you think about trans kids in sp-" —"Did you hear my opponent had his patient, who was 8 months pregnant, arrested in front of her son because she didn't pay a $50 medical bill?"

Meischa was Roger Marshall's patient. This is her story.

FOR the public record the way to see if I want to do something or can do something is ask me directly. There’s been waaay too many people that ask me without actually asking me then get disappointed that I don’t do the thing. Or respond accordingly. Be direct! Ask! Don’t hint around.

Say like “hey, do you have the time to go to x, y, z” or do this thing? Or “can you visit” and tell me when your good times are. Why do I have to play 20 questions?

900 Flock cameras down. Thousands more to go. Texans should be able to drive down the road without Big Tech tracking where we go and building a database of our movements. Communities across Texas are starting to pull the plug. Let’s de-flock Texas.

I wish I knew what to do when someone you love and care for is clearly in a burnout situation and has clearly over scheduled herself into it. I’m massively worried that the chronic stress will put her into an early grave.

So after the cruise I resolved to, I don’t know, be better. Visit more. It gets out of sight/out of mind. They’re literally more important to me than any politics happening right now. But they don’t know how to ask, and probably won’t because of whatever shame.

I’ve sent them resources, because that’s all that I can do. Find information and push it. And be more radically open with her and give her connection. All the ways I know how to intentionally communicate with people.

Her husband has been listening to me at least. Little things I noticed. Like, between the cruise we went on in March and a few weeks ago in Los Alamos he stopped using the “r word” if you know. A few other things. Her, less so.

Her husband sees it, but I don’t think he knows how to intercede. She’s EXHAUSTED. I can see it in her eyes every picture. I spend time with 80 year olds that don’t look as exhausted. Like, I don’t live near her and I can’t easily get there.

Milo Yiannopoulos has been detained by ICE in an excellent reminder of how regimes repay the provocateurs that were their biggest cheerleaders.

My kid had to retake an animation class this summer and I really hope the pass the final. Like just give it to them! Everything’s been booked! Loans processed! But we won’t find out till Thursday.

Update to this. So she did it like weekly at first, but she doesn’t and has never had diabetes, then her husband got her to scale back to monthly. But on top of that she has pretty severe and obvious chronic stress and her digestive problems seem worse. She should never have been given GLP1.

So like a friend of mine started doing Ozempic I over the past couple of years and every time I see her face I get depressed because it’s drastically changed it. She looks permanently stressed.

I lowkey kinda just want to be pursued. Like, I want to be wanted. Or maybe I have been but I’m just so completely oblivious that I haven’t noticed it. Idk. It’s always “what are your plans” or “what do you want”, never (or rarely) “I’d like you to do this with me”, or “I want you specifically”

De Niro: It doesn’t matter if you’re a Democrat, a Republican, or an Independent—no one, no one voted for new wars. No one voted for higher prices at the pump. No one voted for higher prices in grocery stores, and no one voted for government-masked thugs shooting down our citizens in the streets.

The Texas A&M Board of Regents’ claim that they are simply following the will of taxpayers to censor topics on race overlooks a fundamental reality: I am a Black man and a taxpayer, and I do not support the use of my public funds against me, my interests, or my values.

For real, based on the pictures I’ve found of my husband’s grandfather he seemed pretty waif like.

This stupid fucking meme has got body shape exactly backwards. Half the fuckin population had just spent the better part of a decade being extra malnourished in the 40s while today even pogs get addicted to lifting and creatine

I figured this out a year ago and I’ve been yapping about it.

1. Over the last six months, I’ve been studying MAGA, and trying to understand why it has been so successful – and what the Democrats ought to learn from that success. The results were published in the New Yorker magazine this week. Here’s what I learned: (a 🧵) www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...

By the end of this week, we will have interviewed over 90 Texas Candidates running for office. That's pretty cool! There are a lot of really amazing people running. A lot of professors, teachers, farmers, engineers, a welder, and a lot of military experience candidates. It's been impressive.

This is a long one, but please read the whole thing. There is a huge misunderstanding when it comes to bills, and it is making it incredibly hard for people to not feel doomed. Hopefully this explanation helps you take the really big deep breath you desperately need. 1/

The first Simpsons short debuted April 19, 1987, 39 years ago. Homer Simpson is, in cannon, 39 years old. Meaning he could’ve been born AFTER the Simpsons first appearance.
