Tried to fix a react issue with Copilot for 20min - started going in circles after 3-4 iterations. Downloaded and tried Cursor - and it fixed it in 2mins… I guess I’m hiring Cursor from this moment 😄

Often daily progress is so minimal or barely noticeable that it doesn't make sense to share all tiny updates in a post. Maybe I should think about keeping myself accountable with weekly updates and finding a closed group of like minded people for this... 🤔

💡It helps me to commit to a daily work when you want to start with something and gain initial results quickly. I can feel significant boost in confidence and skills. 💡This approach is not maintainable in the long term and it shouldn't, because - life. Often you need to juggle priorities.

Key takeaways for my future self: 💡Repeated by many people countless of times: consistency is the key to progress. Learning and building is a marathon, not 100m. 💡It doesn't matter how small your progress is, it adds up quickly. when done. every. single. day.

Day 26: Not much of a coding day, but still worked on this: ☑️ Had my first demo where pitched idea & working parts of the app to my ex-colleague from digital marketing agency. He found idea promising, gave additional insights & feedback. ☑️ Found new bugs when actually using the app.

Day 25: Today was debugging a data issue, found out that JS is incorrectly interpreting large integers from DB so needed to adjust the format. Overall 5 days to go, and still I’m not where I wanted to be with this tool, but at least moving forward consistently.

Day 22: Started tackling reporting UI from other side - actually looking at real examples on the web and creating a basic mockup. ❌ got rid of unnecessary charts 🧠 kept it shamelessly simple… 🧠 will revisit based on user feedback/needs ☑️ first changes implemented in the code as well...

Day 20: Didn't have much time today for the project, but started to work on structuring reporting section better (switching layout & position of components). There are multiple components that are ok when siloed, but they don't look good together for now.

Day 19: Found and fixed multiple filter bugs that I postponed for some time. Now works much more smoothly. In the process moved a couple code nuggets to the server and did small refactoring. Another small step forward, happy about the result 🙂

Day 18: Continued improving & exploring Nivo charts - managed to adjust formatting and add custom tooltip (as that is not documented). Still struggling with displaying proper tick interval for longer date ranges. Too much time spent, but it's necessary. Copilot was total shit for this task.

Day 16: ✅ Real data is displayed in line chart & updated with filter/date change. Basic error handling for missing data. ✅ Day/Month/Year switch component - UI prepared ✅ Optimised report fetching, removed unnecessary API call - loads visibly faster now. Creating reporting UI is freaking hard... 😅

Day 12: ☑️ Backend validation errors are now neatly shown in the form ☑️ Validation testing & bug fixing ☑️ New RLS policies for reports table. I found raw GPT 4o to be more precise for this than integrated AI helper in Supabase.

Almost 50% of time has passed and I’m slowly switching into panic mode. Still tons of things to ship & fix before this project becomes a usable alpha version. But at least I’m getting valuable hands-on experience 😀 Changed priorities for many backlog tasks, those will be part of later patches.

Day 4: useEffect() & useState() are wild beasts 😀 If I would be a smart person I would practice this part on easier examples to have full clarity on how they behave. But hey, not everyone are born gifted! 🧠 Anyway, managed to tame them so that filtering functionality works with the backend...

Day 1: Focused on report section ✅ Keyword list report is dynamic now. List updates based on selected project. ✅ Fixes for date-picker styling 💡Learned that you need to manually enable aggregation in Supabase to use it… took some time to find the issue
