“Let those who have weapons lay them down. Let those who have the power to unleash wars choose peace. Not a peace pursued by force, but through dialogue. Not with the desire to dominate the other, but to encounter them.” — Pope Leo XIV

"I don't want a Disney vacation of our history! I don't a whitewashed history, I don't want a homogenized history. Tell me the wretched truth about America, because that speaks to our greatness" -- 20 hours into his speech, Cory Booker is spitting absolute 🔥

This is why, certain broadcasters, who I've long watched & admired, bent the knee. Sooo...disappointed. No longer can watch. Where is the integrity to back up ALL that's been said, leading up to the election😞😠

College freshman today were 6 years old in the 2012 election. A student of mine (age 20) told me after class that he appreciates when I explain how US politics and media were different before, because the Trump era is all he’s seen. This is what young Americans think politics is. It’s normal now.

History repeats. In late February 1921, 2 weeks before taking office as POTUS, Warren Harding writes a letter to the richest man in America, William Randolph Hearst, thanking him for helping him win the presidency with favorable coverage in major newspapers he owned & begging for his advice.

The day after January 6th, Donald Trump said he was "outraged" by the "heinous attack" on the Capitol, adding: "And to those who broke the law, you will pay." Needless to say, Trump didn’t mean a word of it. Four years on, it's hard to escape the feeling that January 6th succeeded.

thebulwark.comJanuary 6th Was a SuccessTrump managed to turn his presidency’s darkest day into a political springboard. And now, he’ll seek retribution.

A-MAZ-ING entertainer. As a young girl, I played his records (anyone remember vinyl records lol),over & over again. His autobiography is fascinating. Highly recommend if you love his music. He went thru sooo...much, from the time he was a young child🎶

When ever I think of what book I would become (as in Farenheit 451-where firefighters burned books & NO ONE was permitted to possess one)I KNOW I would become Stranger In A Strange Land! Shall I recite myself for you?

I already own this New English Library edition of STRANGER IN A STRANGE LAND, but every time I see it in a second hand bookshop, the Bruce Pennington cover art still makes me pause to admire it
