“Accessibility and affordability aren’t minor concerns; they should be guiding principles in a country that claims to be free and equal,” Abigail Disney, a descendant of Disney’s founders, writes in a letter to The Times.

BREAKING: The Trump administration is set to repeal climate pollution standards for coal and methane gas plants. This will have devastating consequences for public health and our economy. Dirty Energy companies will get richer than ever while we all pay the price in dirty air and higher bills.

Over the weekend, community members gathered at 500 events across the country to honor John Lewis and continue his legacy of making good trouble.

Six years ago today, we lost civil rights hero John Lewis. From July 17–19, people across the country are coming together for a Weekend of Action to help their communities exercise the sacred freedom to vote. Get involved and find Good Trouble near you: https://bit.ly/4aVgiVh

"161 years ago today, Black people in Texas finally learned they were free, more than two years after slavery had been abolished. Juneteenth remains a powerful reminder that freedom delayed is freedom denied.

Today, we celebrate Black joy, resilience, and achievement while renewing our commitment to a future where everyone can live with dignity, safety, and joy. Progress requires both remembrance and action."

This Pride Month means recognizing what is at stake for all of us when we do not stand up to protect those most vulnerable in our communities. As Marsha P Johnson reminds us, there is "No pride for some of us without liberation for all of us. #Pride2026

BREAKING: Senate Republicans have just begun a marathon vote-a-rama in the Senate. Why? Not to lower health care or housing costs. Instead, they are fighting tooth & nail to give ICE another $70 billion blank check with ZERO reforms. A disgrace.

With Americans struggling to afford health care, utilities, child care, and more, the Trump administration is all-in on mass deportations and warehousing immigrants—and Republicans in Congress are about to bankroll it.

BREAKING: As Congress votes on $70 billion for ICE & CBP through 2029, the House Appropriations Committee released a bill to give them $30 billion more in FY2027 alone. There will be NO end to this greed and waste of taxpayer funds — unless we stop it. SEND YOUR MESSAGES. MAKE YOUR CALLS. ⬇️

This will set the stage for unnecessary and aggressive deployments like those endured by Chicago, Los Angeles, and Minneapolis. And that's just one program within the $70+ billion in no-strings-attached funding they want to give ICE and CBP to terrorize our communities.

Today, Senate Republicans are voting to give ICE a $350 million political retaliation fund to unleash immigration enforcement actions in cities and states that the administration deems "uncooperative" with its mass deportation agenda.

Yesterday's SCOTUS decision threatens the foundation of our democracy, making the path easier to silence voters and weaken fair representation. But this isn't where the story ends. It's time to take action. Voter participation is how we resist, and now is the time to let our voices be heard.

As V4P President Sandra Fluke shares: This moment reflects a growing recognition that affordability is not just about lowering prices — it’s about ensuring people are paid enough to live on, so we can build an economy that works for everyone, not just those at the top. It's time for a living wage!

While companies are reporting record-high earnings, working people are struggling to survive. Minimum wage is not a living wage.

Voices for Progress reposted

Today, with Rep. Ramirez, Rep. Garcia, Rep. Simon, and One Fair Wage, I led my first bill to raise the minimum wage to $25 an hour. No one can afford to live on less. I fought for $15 in NJ—now we take this fight national for $25 an hour to create an economy for all!

Civil rights are under attack and so are the people who defend them. Groups that fight hate and discrimination help ensure we can live, work, vote, and be ourselves safely. Rewriting history and weakening these protections puts everyday freedoms at risk. But intimidation won’t work.

An attack on one of us is an attack on all. This administration uses racism, hate, and fear—openly and repeatedly—as tools of control. We will not be silent. Read our statement: https://bit.ly/4eAqjK0

Yesterday, we celebrated the 56th Earth Day, reminding us what collective action can achieve. Earth day is a call to keep pushing for solutions that lower costs, expand clean energy, and protect public health in the legacy of landmark legislation like the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. 🌍

Congress already handed nearly $170B to ICE and Border Patrol, fueling abuses instead of lowering costs or expanding health care. Now Republicans want even more. Families need relief, not policies that harm communities and ignore what Americans actually want.

House Budget Committee Democrats@housebudgetdems.bsky.social

"This Republican bill doubles down on a failed agenda and does nothing to lower costs, protect health care, or make our communities safer." Ranking Member @congressmanboyle.bsky.social on the Republican Budget Resolution:

When advocates discuss a wealth tax they aren't talking about income alone. Using the middle class as a scapegoat is a tactic used often to distract from the point: The wealthiest among us continue to increase their wealth at staggering rates while working people continue to pay the price.

More Perfect Union@moreperfectunion.bsky.social

Unbelievable stuff from the Washington Post on behalf of Jeff Bezos today.

50 members of Congress have cosponsored this bill (ten in the Senate and 40 in the House), making this the largest coalition supporting the wealth tax to date. Americans have spoken. It's time for a wealth tax.

V4P stands in solidarity with Dolores Huerta, Ana Murguía, Debra Rojas, and the women and children whose labor and leadership shaped the farmworker movement — often without recognition, and at times while enduring harm. Their stories matter. We choose to center truth and those impacted.
