Today’s strike is an essential workforce pushed to the edge. Up to 400,000 workers are on strike today. It’s the largest industrial action Ireland has seen in 17 years. When teachers and healthcare workers are forced into double-jobbing just to pay rent, the system is fundamentally broken.

As time runs out, the European Union needs a more unified approach. Only Ireland, Spain, and Slovenia were part of the walking-out statement. Volt Ireland believes that to create solutions to global issues, we need a combined effort and accountability for countries that break international law.
