The idea of the AI developer as someone burgeoning with wonderful, never before seen ideas who just needed the tools to realize them is by and large a fantasy. The reality of the AI developer is someone producing spam at volume who has no ideas of their own, so just clone something popular.

My thinking at the time was partly, yes, to give those small studios a second chance. But also, if big corporations knew they’d be on the hook to financially help the studio go independent later on, they might think twice about making all these acquisitions unless they REALLY wanted them long-term.

Holy sh*t. Just a few weeks ago I was fantasizing there oughta be a law that if a company/studio gets bought and then the purchaser decides to dissolve it, they should be given some kind of assisted option to spin itself off independently again first.
