Just in case anyone is wondering having watched the news or seen other sites go down, Walkhighlands was patched for the php vulnerabilities yesterday afternoon when the new patches were released. So we are not vulnerable to this issue.

⛰️ Buachaille Etive Mòr was sensational yesterday! Perfect clear forecast, the scramble & scree sections were a little challenging in places with Tattie, largely due to the layer of ice on the rocks which kept things interesting! 172/282 @walkhighlands.co.uk #munrobagging #hillwalking

Seeing a Red Squirrel is always a pleasure, especially if you’re lucky enough to have them visit your garden. But feeding Red Squirrels shouldn’t come at the expense of their safety – or the safety of the birds they share their habitat with.

hopefully this sort of hybrid search page gives the results all different types of users may be looking for or expecting without having to think about it.

The new version of our app is out in the stores. This fixes alot of minor bugs but most importantly adds explanatory tutorials that display as you start using it. If you were confused before, try the new version and it may help! Find it on the App Store / Google Play - and enjoy your walks!

Well done to everyone who guessed we were walking St Cuthbert’s Way. Here’s a few shots from the high point of the route - Wideopen Hill - all taken this afternoon. It’s a lovely traverse and also forms the first stage of the Scottish National Trail.

What they don't tell you - sometimes Munro-bagging looks like this - from Càrn Sgulain today. That's an 80% chance of clear summits for you 😉 I've been up 4 times which may be 3x too many. Is it possibly the dreariest Munro of them all? Brightened only by that strikingly vivid green area of bog!

Wondered how to go BACK in our app? If your phone supports gestures (all iPhones, most Android phones) - you can go BACK in Walkhighlands app (and most others) by simply swiping in from the left edge of the screen. On iPhones, you can go forward by swiping in from the right edge too.

The area affected by the Cairngorms fire, as seen from Meall a Bhuachaille summit this evening, showing the extent of the burnt area. Meall a' Bhuachaille is open via the route from Glenmore - but not from the Ryvoan side, which remains off-limits at the moment.

The Flow Country, extending to around 400,000 hectares of Caithness and Sutherland in the north of Scotland, is considered to be the most outstanding example of an actively accumulating blanket bog landscape in the world. This exceptional landscape... www.walkhighlands.co.uk/news/discove...

Update on the wildfire around Glenmore and Ryvoan in the Cairngorms National Park If you know of any walkers out on multi-day trips in the affected area, try to make sure they know of the situation. The road to Glenmore is closed; if in doubt about safe escape route, walkers should phone 999. 1/2

From Police Scotland Highland & Islands “Police have assisted walkers off the hill, and are advising remaining walkers to continue to make efforts to get to safety. Anyone requiring emergency assistance should call 999. Please let family or friends know when you have returned.”
