RFK: "There's five hundred million Arabs in the world. And yet they don't produce science. They don't win the Nobel Prize. They don't win the Fields Prize. They don't win the Wolf Prize. They don't produce literature."

if only we could've known this in advance by his public ties to the century's most famous pedophile or all his public statements about women

Beyond disgusted by even more rape allegations against the President of the United States. "In total, more than 25 different women...have independently accused Donald Trump of rape, sexual assault, or other sexual misconduct." Report w/ new details: democrats-judiciary.house.gov/sites/evo-su...

but you have to consider what you're paying for: the opportunity to live in a permanent sauna convenient to a wide variety of predatory lizards and the rising seas that periodically try to kill you with hurricanes

Median rent as a share of median income of renter households in major U.S. metros, 2010 vs. 2024. Minneapolis is lowest on the list, at 29%, down from 30.4% in 2010. www.artio.so/dataviz/page...

what if we just didn't do Crazy Socks Day or Crazy Hat Day. I mean that seems like the obvious solution if it's too much of a pain in the ass for parents to remember.

It’s hard to decide what part of this story on Marissa Mayer’s new startup is most loathsome, but this “women need a wife or, in other words, a digital servant” construction makes me want to flip over an actual table www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/s...

now, yes, I know they're collapseable spears and airlines have some security concerns, but have they considered how much less of a pain in the ass it would be if I could take trekking poles carryon

this week for halloween something only vaguely halloween-y: dark chocolate cookies with white chocolate chips and caramel bits

finally back home, so finally back to baking. in this case, some quick lemon blackberry bars which interestingly don't have any egg in them. the batter is incredibly loose going in, but they bake up nicely

look it's time that we face facts: being president makes you gay. the only way to survive the enormous pressures of running the free world is homosexuality.

don't make me have multiple credit cards where I need to split my spending to maximize points on per-purchase and overall limit basises. don't do this to me. I just want to go hiking until I physically can't anymore.

accidentally bought a thing of worcestershire sauce after I already own a thing of worcestershire sauce, so now I have more worcestershire sauce than I will use in my entire life

you can remember this because bucks are naked all the time, as they have not eaten from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil

Merriam-Webster@merriam-webster.com

We acknowledge that no one has the bandwidth for this, but if it helps: -It’s ‘sleight of hand’ -It’s ‘bated breath’ -It’s ‘lo and behold’ -It's 'buck naked' -It’s ‘brass tacks’ -It’s ‘free rein’ -It’s ‘toe the line'

I'm not some campist who's going to say we should all accept what's coming to us but we are at war with them and the way we still treat it as surprising that means they're at war with us is a little silly

The screenshot in question is about feminizing hormonal therapy…so kale to female. You said those risks are a part of natural puberty…diabetes, infertility, stroke, etc. You’re pretending to confuse general aging with puberty. Why pretend something like that?

Amazon has *wildly* improved the experience of online shopping. subscribe and save in particular is not very directly visible but makes keeping up with household stuff way easier.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

obviously Amazon is not without its flaws but I do think the labor abuses are separable from particularly the front-end. if stuff took four days to arrive but arrived reliably in four days, that would generally be fine

I just want to know what MattY thinks a society where what ICE has done isn't a losing issue looks like in five or ten or twenty years

Jake Grumbach@jakemgrumbach.bsky.social

A helpfully clear exchange here Hasan: "So your argument is that [Minnesota ICE protesters] should stay at home because immigration is a salient issue for Donald Trump. Opposing ICE is only going to help Trump. Wait until we win the election in 2028." Yglesias: "Yes that is what I would have said"

if we're complaining about Mass Effect: it's fucked up that the guy who's in charge of all the Reapers is named Harbinger and the guy who's supposed to open the way for the other Reapers is named Sovereign

so he just has no idea what's going on, huh?

😳 WOMAN REPORTER: Do sexual abuse allegations mean nothing to you, sir? TRUMP: Wait. Wait! Wait wait wait. Slow down. Who are you with? REPORTER: NBC, sir. But they are very serious sex abuse allegations TRUMP: Quiet! Isn't she a fresh person? You're a horrible little reporter, aren't you?

I have made Enormous Amount of Chicken and Beans (chili mode). I mostly don't regret it but the pan I used for the chicken was too small for the amount of chicken so I got less browning than I'd like

this is based on Brian Lagerstrom's 30 minute chili, but with chicken (thighs cut bite-sized and velveted with corn starch, salt, baking soda, and chili) instead of beef because that's way cheaper and I'm not particularly impressed by beef in chili

one way I think LLMs have actually made me a better coworker is that they're good enough at search that I default to them rather than pinging someone I expect to know with a "hey where is X" question
