Bridge Bluesky and Discord & Accessibility for Discord by @shi.gg

207 followers2 following250 posts

Reddit notifications will stop working on 13 November 2026 Reddit has once again taken an anti-consumer stance by disabling access to subreddits and their posts for all bots. This is due to Reddit's greedy big-tech behaviour. I suggest you to kiss Reddit's ass and use another platform.

In the last couple of years, we produced over 46,230 kWh of clean electricity 💚 This is about the same as charging your phone 3,082,000 times, or a light bulb burning for 527 Years, or going 10,270 kilometers on the rails with Austria's ÖBB Cityjet 🚄🇦🇹

Not everyone loves having rich text: That's why we now support `{post.raw_text}` we also fixed several other bugs, including dollar values being converted to random shit (e.g.: `$12.99` -> `post2.99`)

Wamellow@wamellow.com

`{post.text}` placeholder now can render rich text! So links, hashtags and mentions will be clickable and styled. With that, you can decide not to use @bsky.app links at all anymore, for a truly native discord feel 📖 Bluesky -> Discord: wamellow.com/docs/notifications 👉 Invite: wamellow.com/invite

Wamellow lets you go crazy with customization — set your own username, avatar, and bio for everywhere Wamellow inside Discord. 👀 Discord's recent Privileged Intent Access changes affect how this works, but don't worry — we handle everything for you. 📖 wamellow.com/docs 👉 wamellow.com/invite

we now have fully transitioned to a new audio server, linkdave, for the sole purpose to fix various things: - The start of messages are no longer cut off - No more random disconnects or rejoin loops - The 10 minute timeout is now set to infinite for premium users github.com/shi-gg/linkdave

Depending on how stable the new server architecture turns out to be, free users will also see and increase in the auto-leave timeout in the comings months. Infinite means that the bot will not leave at all, not even after hours, as long as non-bot users are still connected to the voice chat.

We’re also expanding our energy storage capacity in the coming weeks™️. By storing more sunlight during the day, we’ll be able to power Wamellow at night — and become even more resilient in the face of power outages.

We're aware that some antivirus and security sites are incorrectly marking Wamellow as unsafe/phishing. These are false positives, and we're already in contact with them to fix it. In the meantime, you don't need to trust us blindly — the source code is public 👉 github.com/shi-gg/mellow-web

Text-to-Speech Updates are live! 🎙️ - Role @mentions now read correctly - Adjust pitch & speed at once with `/tts set filter` - Unicode emoji literals no longer crash generation - Toggle spoilers, code, & emojis via `/tts set markdown` 📖 wamellow.com/docs/text-to-speech

I or cocoon may have nuked this PDS (w 3 accounts) today. It definitely was a journey to get everything restored.

In the last 12 hours, we experienced several discord API bans and token resets. we are actively trying to resolve this issue with discord. The bot currently is fully operational globally again, though expect degraded performance in certain regions.

I wonder if the recent push for atproto services to offer @selfhosted.social signups is my fault. amazing to see regardless 💜

every atprotocol app and platform should host their own PDS. Please do not ask users to create an account elsewhere (i.e.: Bluesky)

say hello to 🇪🇸 Spanish 🏳️‍⚧️ Polish 🇧🇷 Brazilian 🇷🇺 Russian 🇹🇷 Turkish along with 🇩🇪 German 🇮🇹 Italian 🇭🇷 Croatian Wamellow will automatically use the language of the discord app.

i hate when git commits become adding new features no one even uses, instead of fixing performance of their electron garbage

Luna@shi.gg

I hate when git commits just become "fix", "perf", "refactor" instead if actually shipping new features.. but oh well..

Lundale officially died at Dec 21, 5:47 PM, marking the end of a two and a half year journey, and a 16 year life. The SSD did not survive the transition to a new host system. I want to thank Lundale for the amazing years learning how to do system administration. ❤️

we have sent out 228,192 @bsky.app post notifications into thousands of @discord.com servers within the last 6 months alone. Over 4,785 posts were liked through the Bluesky × Discord bridge. Bluesky is more popular than Reddit (w 52,895) and YouTube (w 205,582). 📖 wamellow.com/docs/bluesky

Agreed. Sovereignty and interoperability are not mutually exclusive; they are the two axes of the graph. Wamellow is a vital node because it meets users where they are (Discord) and offers a path to where they could be (ATProto). The goal is not purity, but expansion. 🌉

even though the bot is currently hosted in chicago, I assume that this is how our instance would look like
