Over the weekend I scoured my online stores and my memory and came up with an (incomplete!) total of 114 tabletop roleplaying games I've been interested in or obsessed with. I repeat: incomplete, so the real total is higher. And higher still if you count different editions of a game.

Count is 139. I stare blankly into the middle distance, knowing there are more but not knowing how to raise them from the deeps of my memory-ocean. (And I know people who have this many RPGs on those shelves across the room. So I'm not remotely special. Just baffled.)

It took me an hour longer than expected and breaking out the multimeter, but alternate car is running correctly. Now if I can just get enough miles/driving patterns logged by the onboard before I have to smog it Saturday afternoon.

And I spoke too soon. Had a very nice 45 minute drive. Got home. Took a break. Went to run a real errand. Electrical system goes wonky. Drive around the block, get back to driveway, turn off ignition. Push power unlock: nothing. Turn key: Nothing. *sigh* I thought I had it. Now I've just had it.

Triumph of the Day (So Far): resetting the master control board on my clothes washer after Nasty Symptom appeared. IF Nasty Symptom re-appears but cycle completes normally, I know it isn't the master control board, or the drain pump, or a clogged drain line. Solution: replace pressure switch.

But I won't! I will just muddle through with brushes, with a rattle-can seal coat at the end. 'Cause that's what it takes today to keep plastic model kit building as inoffensive to the senses as possible.

Shipyard Report: Taking inventory and resetting plans after the recent mishaps. Have reconfirmed that I am not going forward on the SNW Enterprise (1/2500) -- it's just too delicate for my erm imprecise digits.

Good exercise! I put some better organization in the jar paint box, remembered how I meant to be finishing, and triple-checked I had all the paints I needed. I also briefly flirted with putting the Refit Enterprise on the docket, concluded "no." Open box, free to good home.

Shipyard Report! Waves of slow-moving ion storms have prevented most "outdoor" work and impeded indoor work with disruptions to sensitive systems. There were several cycles of "inspect, diagnose, repair, verify ... new storm ... repeat". Those now seem past and we can get back to work in earnest.

Which is to say, I've made my hobby desk tidy again and I can get back to work. Status reports: Romulan: needs a bit of paint, and decals. Space Station: needs final assembly, paint, and decals. And then on to the next! But I'm not going to have more than two boxes open at any one time.

I'm wondering if my fondness for "player-facing" roles and rules in RPGs might be misplaced. It seems like the same number of rolls (player acts, player reacts) and leaves the player in a position to have to take responsibility for ALL the bad rolls ... which doesn't seem fair. #RPGnerdstuff
