Fixed an issue causing errors on some uploads within the last 20 hours.

Weasyl will go offline briefly for an important upgrade. We expect the downtime to start 30 minutes from now, and last 15 minutes.

The site has been back for 20 minutes, and seems stable. Actual downtime was 10 minutes. Sometimes nothing goes wrong 🎉

While blocking some bad bots recently, we also blocked PostyBirb by mistake. Sorry about that! If you tried to use PostyBirb with Weasyl in the last 26 hours and encountered an error, please try again now.

You can now upload WebP files to Weasyl for posts and avatars! On top of being handy for normal images, the WebP format is able to preserve much more of your animations’ quality compared to GIFs, with smoother playback on less powerful computers, faster loading, and non-jagged transparency.

Weasyl became mostly unavailable about 3 hours ago as a result of a DDoS attack. We’ve blocked it for the moment, and the site is back. We’ll continue to monitor things.

The site is back up! Sorry about the few hours of downtime.

We’ve now fixed some residual slowness related to this issue.

It looks like we broke friend requests today! A fix should be in place within a few hours.

And it’s fixed! Within a few hours, as promised.

Weasyl is down! Technical issues, no ETA yet.

And we're back! We'll try to make the next update we post something more exciting. 🙂

We're still experiencing intermittent errors related to the previously announced upgrades. Please bear/fox/etc. with us while we continue to investigate, and sorry for the service interruptions!

As a heads up, we are running through some updates of our underlying infrastructure, so it's likely the site may go offline briefly for a reboot or two in the next few hours. It shouldn't be more than a few minutes!

And of course, something had to go wrong with the updates. Sorry for the delay! We're working on the issue now. No concerns about data, just looks like an access issue right now.

Okay! So as you may have noticed, we're back up. We hit a very interesting edge case on the server when we rebooted it. Thanks for your patience! For the technical folks, the issue was a corrupt ZFS cache file causing not all the zpools to load on boot.

Time for some good news! There was an issue with e-mail verifications not going out to any Outlook.com, Hotmail.com and Live.com addresses. This has now been fixed! If you're still having issues signing up, feel free to ping us here.
