Rain for almost the entirety of the UK simultaneously today as Storm Boelo arrives ๐ŸŒง๏ธ

Southern England has once again dodged a bullet with #StormAusten. Itโ€™s fairly calm near the centre of the storm, whilst the Channel Islands and Cherbourg Peninsula are taking a battering. NW winds will strengthen however as it passes. One day we wonโ€™t be so luckyโ€ฆ Crossposted with @openvibe.social

Sunset over Storm Austen. Stay safe!

Potentially one of the wettest 24h on record in East Dorset Thursday into Friday.

More context: The 00z UKMO predicts 40 mm rain here between 7 pm Thu & 7 pm Fri. While not quite a fair comparison due to the historical record being for calendar days only, this list still gives an idea how 40 mm stacks up on this area; an extremely wet day by local standards.

AI: DANA stands for "Depresiรณn Aislada en Niveles Altos," which translates to "Isolated Depression at High Levels." It refers to a meteorological phenomenon characterized by a pocket of cold air in the upper atmosphere that separates from the main air stream, often leading to severe weather events.

Spectacular cloudage above the Surrey Hills today. Cirrocumulus in bands converging towards the horizon, composed of supercooled water droplets producing spectacular iridescence through diffraction. Virga trails of heavier ice crystals drifted down where the water droplets froze spontaneously.

Hear hear! Illegal immigration needs to be tackled but we must do everything we can as a nation not to let #ReformUK into power. Weโ€™ve already seen how thuggish right wing politics has destroyed the credibility of the US, & mustnโ€™t let it happen here. Donโ€™t get me started on their climate policies!

Vikki Slade MP@vikkislademp.bsky.social

This is beyond disgusting & leads somewhere very dark indeed. Are they going to stop firefighters rescuing people from a burning building? Paramedics from saving the life of someone bleeding to death? Reform and the right wing are dangerous. Emergency services donโ€™t discriminate

I think itโ€™s too early to categorically say that the climate of the 20th Century is dead, but thereโ€™s every chance that it is, and that summer 2026 will be considered a cool one 20 or even 10 years from now.

Itโ€™s been a particularly outrageous summer in France and very arid too. The first overheating episode started in late spring it still goes on now in early autumn. Paris-Montsouris located to south of city at near 49N with today has 43 days exceeding 32C (90F). The climate of 20th century is dead.
