500 stars on Starwind UI overnight. I’m honestly speechless. I built this because I wanted the "shadcn/ui experience" specifically optimized for @astro.build . Seeing the community rally behind it is incredible. Huge thank you to everyone. We’re just getting started. "npx starwind@latest init"

I love it when people submit PRs to Starwind UI However, there is a 99% chance I will require you to make adjustments before merging. As this is a library used by tons of people, certain standards are required to ensure consistency. Nothing against you, just use it as an opportunity to improve

Uber is the most fucking annoying app with notifications. Even with all the marketing and promotion sections disabled, there's way to many. All I want is one notification that my ride is about here. That's it. You done lost your privileges.

Problem: real user identified as a bot during signup. No indication because that case fails silently Do you: 1. Change the code to provide an error message to the user in this case 2. Leave it as is, since its meant to catch bots and not let them know they've been caught

Every so often someone purchases Starwind Pro without using the super obvious discount code In each case, no one has ever asked for a refund or for the discount to be applied after the fact Don't get me wrong, I like more money. But I just dont understand

Simplifying things for your users is always the answer I just recently updated the CLI for installing pro components to not prompt users that it will use shadcn (the library is implemented as an authenticated shadcn registry) Purchases jumped Removing friction is key

Ever created a sweet new component, only to test it in Safari and everything breaks? Same. That's why I created a ton of free components for your Astro projects. Complete with animations, accessibility, and easily customizable. npx starwind@latest init

Its crazy to me that people will continuously re-invent complex UI components Waste tons of tokens figuring out why it doesnt work in Safari, or making it accessible When you can just use pre-made open source components that have already figured this out

I make shadcn/ui-like components for Astro. If you build websites with Astro, this helps because now you have native animated and accessible components. I built this after seeing so many people feel the need to bring React into their Astro projects, boating their JS bundle and slowing their sites.

I hate to tell you this, but if you're using React components in your Astro projects, you're doing it wrong. Instead, you should be using open source Astro native components. Why? Far less JS, patterns you already know from shadcn/ui, and it works perfectly with Astro features. Starwind UI 🌟

You don't need a $200/mo "agent swarm" setup to build a profitable business. I love that people are pushing the boundaries of AI loops, but it isn't a requirement for success. Standard AI coding tools are more than enough to help you ship and make thousands a month.

Too many people talk about AI but ship nothing. What are you shipping me with AI? Me - I've been hard at work perfecting tons of new blocks for Starwind Pro. Plus adding new docs, a theme designer, and better theme previews

Most MCP servers are hot garbage They just pollute your context with unnecessary info, and provide very little value on their own I created the Starwind MCP to be better. Actually useful to search available blocks, generate install commands, get up-to-date docs, and more. 👇

It’s time for a re-introduction. With the rise of AI spam and anonymous bots, I’ve decided to be less anon. I want to build in the open as a real person. My name is Branden. I’m still the same massive Astro nerd you’ve been following. I'm just putting a face to the code. Keep building.

No doubt that shadcn/ui has been a game changer. But bringing unnecessary React into your Astro projects is the wrong move. That's why I created Starwind UI - Astro native, animated, and accessible components. Add via CLI. Own the code. npx starwind@latest init

7 components every Astro site needs (and how to add them in 60 seconds): → Button (with variants) → Card (content organization) → Dialog (accessible dialog) → Accordion (collapsible sections) → Form inputs (with validation) → Toast (notifications with promise support) → Dropdown (accessible)

Without Starwind: 8-12 hours building from scratch With Starwind: npx starwind@latest add button card dialog accordion input toast dropdown Time: 60 seconds All components include: → ARIA attributes → Keyboard navigation → Dark mode support → Customizable styling Stop rebuilding. Start shipping.

Is an llms.txt file actually useful? I implemented one for Starwind UI and tried to have Claude use it in Windsurf Claude 3.7 just wants to do everything itself rather than using the CLI. I have to specifically prompt it to use the CLI that it should use in the first place.

Wow. The new www.cloudflare.com has been built with Astro. Netlify.com already is, and I know Fastly is in the process of moving all of its sites. If you're a hosting company or CDN and you're not using Astro, you're being left behind!

I think "tailwind-variants" might be the answer Looks like it can do everything I need from "class-variance-authority", and it uses "tailwind-merge" to handle class conflicts Any other options?

Anyone else find it incredibly difficult to just stop working? Me: just sitting at the beach, enjoying the sound of the crashing waves My brain: what can we use to override tailwind classes for Starwind UI? Me: begins furiously researching
