I’ve an award winning podcast about all that’s weird and a little off kilter in the town of Biggleswade and Bedfordshire. History with a pinch of the paranormal, folklore & urban legends. I also like cake, cats, beating bosses and disability rights.

Jones’ coffee shop at the former haunted poundstretcher in Biggleswade is really getting into Halloween. They always do to be fair! If you’re looking for something spooky to listen to don’t forget the latest episode of weird in the Wade! Sounds That Scare Us is out now!

I have met some awesome people making weird in the wade from lovely listeners to my guests. But I was a little star struck interviewing the rock/goth legend that is Nod Wright (Last Rights & Fields of the Nephilim) for today's episode. He is such a lovely gent. He has the best spooky story 1/2

It's been a bit blowy over the last few days in the UK. And the sound of a howling gale was not only the noise which scares legendry musician Nod Wright (last Rights and Fields of the Nephilim) the most on the latest episode of weird in the wade but was the most mentioned scary sound 1/2

Sorry forgot the alt text 🤦🏼‍♀️ The photo is of me smiling by the sea. It’s sunny and the sea is calm and turquoise quite tropical looking. I have blonde bobbed hair and I’m wearing beads around my neck and a green t-shirt.

My 2nd film this afternoon was Starve Acre. The link being Matt Smith. Having lived on the edge of a Yorkshire moor in the 90s where I was told ominously to be careful as my neighbour’s son “was in want of a wife” I can well believe that this kind of superstition still lurks 😉

It’s pouring with rain, I had my flu jab yesterday and I’m feeling a little achey. So it’s horror movie marathon time! First up was Remi Weekes’ His House the story for which was written by friends of the podcast Toby Venables and @scribblerevans.bsky.social It’s on iPlayer it’s brilliant!

⚡️ Flashback Friday ⚡️ Before the return of Weird in the Wade on Monday 26th October why not check out the return to the haunted pound stretcher episode! Why? Well it gets a shout out in Monday's episode which is about the sounds that scare us as well as featuring EVPs! 1/2

Yesterday I was researching in Cambridge at Christ College Fellows Garden. It's for the Christmas episode, and if any of you have a connection to Christ College then I'd love to hear from you.

I am delighted to announce that Bedfordshire Ghost Stories for Christmas is returning to The Bigg Theatre this December. I've teamed up with Bryan from Ampthill Ghost Walks and Olie Campbell again to bring you a show full of creepy tales and haunting music.

It's Sunday night, and I'm sure we all recognise that end of the week feeling. The week ahead looms like this mine building on the horizon. I'm wishing you all a joy filled week to dispel this gloom filled Sunday evening feeling!

Yesterday Tess and I visited the hurlers standing stones on the edge of Bodmin Moor. We were lucky enough to come across this gorgeous white horse in the circle. #magical

Holy well anyone? Although I’m having a fabulous holiday with Tess in Cornwall. I have been working too. Yesterday I was recording audio for you at St Cleer holy well. Next month I’ll be visiting some Bedfordshire holy wells too for an episode due out next year.

The scripts for the first two episodes are also in the BBC Writers’ Room Script Library, alongside an interview with Ashley Pharoah, revealing some changes between draft and final product.

It’s back on BBC iPlayer. The Living and the Dead. If you missed it a decade ago it’s a brilliant piece of atmospheric folk horror, beautifully filmed, and the sound track is so haunting but sadly the second series it deserved was never made. www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...

bbc.co.ukThe Living and The Dead - Series 1: Episode 1Supernatural drama series. Pioneering psychologist Nathan is faced with a disturbing and eerie case - a young girl manifesting terrible voices.

Can you see the spooky face in the water. Tess took this picture whilst we were enjoying high tide at Towan beach yesterday. Can you see the face in the water? Video to follow later showing just how splashy it was! #pariedolia

Can you see the sand on the beach being blown by the wind? It always looks so eerie as it snakes along the beach. Little dust devils and snakes of sand.

Thank you so much for your support for the charity ghost story telling and haunting songs event. The event is now fully booked. Thank you 🙏🏻 I’m hoping we’ll raise a good amount for MacMillan Cancer Support on the night!

I’ll be travelling from Biggleswade’s lovely Surfin Cafe to the home of UK surfing (Newquay) in 24 hours. My journey starts with tea and a bacon butty. Biggleswade is looking glorious in the autumn sunshine.

🚒 Fire! 🚒 I'm looking for a fire fighter to chat with me for the podcast, it can be anonymously. It's about why spontaneous human combustion was such a fear in the 1970s and 80s and why we now know that it isn't really a thing. If you're interested please get in touch details are in my bio! Thanks

I visited the Wemyss Ware cats in Kirkcaldy yesterday or should that be Kitcaldy 😸 They’ve been on a summer trail but were auctioned off yesterday. Apparently Elton John wanted one!

Imagine my surprise whilst reading my copy of Evelyn Hollow’s latest book the brilliant “Hollow’s Hauntology” when I came across Weird in the Wade recommended as a further resource! Thank you so much Evelyn 🖤💕🖤💕🖤
