i play almost entirely indie games. i love some low or no-budget solo dev games. but you're simply not going to replace dragon age with like 2 friends and a dream. completely different thing.
If you’re concerned about needing something by a deadline/certain con, please let me know!
Thank you all so so much for your understanding and patience. Your support truly means the world to me and I hope that it never seems like I take it for granted.
About 2 weeks since making this post, so a little update - I've gotten my CPAP and feel MUCH better rested already, at least mentally. I'm making progress on the queue, better than I was though I'm still a little slower than ideal right now because the cold weather is causing a pain flare.
I went to my first local furry meetup yesterday (MD furs potluck at a park) and had so much fun 🥺 I've done so many cons but don't really get much time to just hang out at them! I gotta make it a priority to make it to more events!
My other ref request is to try and check the file you sent me isn't a 100 x 100 pixel ultra crunchified jpeg...... The amount of times I've been doing at-con work alongside Sassy and we're showing each other refs like "do you think this is a marking"
I wish I could do a writeup about the upcoming Medicaid work reqs for freelancers bc I'm seeing a lot of people just assume they're screwed, but it does vary so much by state
I will say, for 2027 you can self-attest to being having a medical condition/disability that keeps you from working FT
HOPEFULLY by then this crap will get rescinded, but until then -
1. Look into how your state is dealing with seasonal work. They may take a 6-month average rather than requiring income strictly monthly; that's what MD is doing. You might need to call someone bc info can be sparse online.
2. If they aren't averaging but you still meet the requirements, just in chunks due to doing cons/ebb and flow, you may want to look into forming an LLC and paying yourself monthly. This also varies by state and I can't give advice on who it's practical for, but I'm gonna throw the idea out there.

This includes mental health stuff. The system is NOT set up, nor was it given time to get set up, to determine disability status. Thankfully this means it will be a lot easier than getting official federal disability. You can just say you're exempt, if that applies to you, at least for next year.
I forgot to post!! I got the honor of designing one of @anthrosocal.org 2026's mascots, Colette the white-tailed deer :) I got so many amazing compliments on her, and it was so amazing seeing how many people picked her for their badge art!! tysm for all the love on her! ^__^ #ASC2026
I spent the last two weeks painting a 60ft #mural in #Ottawa! Thrilled to have been one of 5 Canadian #Indigenous artists making this beautiful work. Higher quality shots of the finished piece coming soon 🤞
Hi, everyone. One of my dearest local friends is currently in cancer treatment and needs financial support so they can rest, recover, and be my fellow December Sagittarius forever and ever. Their GoFundMe is here: www.gofundme.com/f/support-ha...
MOVING FORWARD:
I’m workshopping how to deal with everything in the long term. In the meantime, I’ve added a column to my Trello that will at least cover a current status update and that week’s planned work. Badges will get printed, prepared and shipped each Friday.
I’m going to try to finish all my sketch badges **this week** so that the queue is less confusing. It’s tough to give wait times when my ability to work has been really inconsistent, but I’m hoping to reassess in a week or two when I’ve made more progress.
THE QUEUE:
There’s two main issues I’ve got with the Trello queue. One is that I think it’s hard to tell when the work will be done, both for me and commissioners. Two is that, because I was anxious about my partner recently losing her job, I took on more work than I probably should have.
While I gave longer wait times near the end of AC/at AWU, they were near the end of what I’m comfortable making people wait - which easily becomes an issue when I fall behind.
stay organized, remember what I’ve told people, what files I’ve sent, etc., even with both physical forms and a Trello to reference. I’ve done nearly 1k comms in my career and have previously prided myself in being good at communication, but it’s fallen by the wayside, and I sincerely apologize.
I’m working on treatment, but it’s a slow and sometimes non-linear process. For instance, I saw a sleep doctor in February, and *just* got insurance approval for a CPAP to treat my sleep apnea.
WHAT’S UP WITH ME:
This year’s been rough, and I’m currently dealing with both physical health (sleep issues/fatigue, migraines, chronic pain) and mental health (dissociation, ADHD, overwhelm/stress) issues that all compound into an absolute mess of cognitive impairment. It’s been difficult to -
For my birthday, I kindly with that you send some money towards my friends that desperately need the funds.
If you can’t send anything, that’s okay, resharing this helps.
If your friends or loved ones need help, please include them in this #mutualaid thread

That being said, I keep getting rejected from cons, even having put my best foot forward with a shiny new portfolio site etc. I'm finding that even trying to account for delays, and having done art full-time for many years, I'm having trouble giving accurate estimates. I apologize for that part.
With my partner out of a job and my own work unstable I'm not really sure what to do in the semi-long term. I'd be willing to go back to school, but anything you can learn quickly and/or do as a disabled person (limited physical strain, ideally desk work hybrid or remote) seems very oversaturated...
I've felt so blessed to be able to do what I do, but I'm struggling, and also aware the grass isn't really greener outside of art with this miserable job market. If anyone has advice on possible directions I'd appreciate it. I'm creative and smart (relatively lol) and don't mind really tedious work.
I had a pretty rough month or so health-wise, and am now traveling home from a camping trip to Maine my mom and I have been trying to get around to for years. It was SO beautiful and truly refreshing emotionally. I'm really hoping I'll be able to use the momentum to catch up on work soon.
