My game Piloteer in action! A mission where you have to start on the pier, fly over the ferris wheel, land on a moving car, fly up and land on a hot air balloon, then fly up and land on a moving plane, all without crashing. #solodev, except all the beautiful UI art is by @weheart.games!

Guess I was trying to make the first letter of my name Wordle 1,417 5/6* 🟩⬛🟩⬛🟩 🟩⬛🟩⬛🟩 🟩⬛🟩⬛🟩 🟩⬛🟩⬛🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 #wordle

When will they fix the messed up hit boxes of the keys in #wordle (at least on iOS)? Something about it is slightly different than the default keyboard and I’m always typing wrong. Drives me nuts.

And yet the majority of liberals & leftists believe what RFK says about Covid and are completely aligned with his Covid denialism. This is how insane you sound when u start talking about how Covid is “mild now” (it’s not mild and we are still in an active pandemic w fewer treatments than in 2022)

Could you imagine if the head of the United States healthcare system didn’t believe that HIV caused AIDS? …And that instead they believed that AIDS is caused by recreational drugs (“poppers”) used by gay people? Oh wait…🥴

The talk Derek and I did at GDC about online showcases/festivals and tips for getting in and maximizing the experience if you do, is available for free on the GDC vault (meaning you don't need a login).

This post is unavailable.

Why doesn’t Prue give out handshakes too? Imagine the accomplishment if you were to get a handshake from Paul AND Prue on a single bake. #TheGreatBritishBakeOff

Every day I wait impatiently for the next episode of White Lotus. Every day I pre-grieve for its end. I want to bask in its world, in the suffering of its insufferable characters. I want to eavesdrop and butt into every conversation and sink into the depths of my nosiness.

Ok now that the secret’s out it’s time to make a hundred of these little handmade zines for GDC. I’m printing them on seed paper so ~theoretically~ if you get one, you can plant it, water it, and grow American wildflowers.

Rise and shine campers and don’t forget your booties cause it’s coooood out there today— it’s cold out there every day what is this Miami Beach— NOT HARDLY

Learning JavaScript. As I come from a background of statically typed languages, dynamically type languages just feel so weird. Instead of being like “Hey I’m gonna make a car alright? K, here’s the car.” It’s just, “HERE’S A CAR.” It feels strange not to explicitly tell the compiler what I want.

Pseudo code to explain this for non-programmers: Statically typed: bool isAlive = true int hp = 100 string name = “Johnny Boy” Dynamically typed: var isAlive = true var hp = 100 var name = “Johnny Boy”

In static, each var’s type is explicitly announced and has to match the type of whatever is to the right of the equals sign. In dynamic, each var’s type is determined by whatever is to the right of the equals sign.

And I find it harder to parse code looking back at it. It’s just a bunch of variables in a row, and since there’s no explicit types, when I’m reading the code, I ALSO have to implicitly figure out the type. Of course there’s amazing usefulness in dynamically typed languages but man it’s strange.

We want to get N95 masks for our dogs that protect from wildfire smoke. But they’re sold out. So I (with AI help) wrote a python script that checks every minute if they’re in stock. If so, it’ll email me. Then launched an AWS instance and ran it. 24/7 checking without having to keep my computer on!

For Chicagoans: imagine massive wildfires going on at the same time in Oak Park, Evanston, South Shore, Lincoln Square, and Oak Lawn. Kinda what it feels like in LA right now.
