After the sale I was already leaning on never buying an EA product ever again, but now? No way in hell. BioWare will always be one of the best video game studios of all time. They deserve better. Also—Dragon Age: The Veilguard is a great game and should've sold better. I will die on that hill.

I played another good chunk of Resonant over the weekend and yeah... this game is way, waaaaaay too long.

Been enjoying playing through Control Resonant for the past couple of weeks. Always a sucker for Remedy's bizarre worlds. All the patterning architecture looks so friggin' cool. The combat is already starting to get stale though. I don't think I'm close to the end either which worries me a bit. :/

This is very exciting because eff the Dodgers. But also—the Brewers have some of the best branding and colours in the league. The cap insignia is legitimately incredible.

YOUR MILWAUKEE BREWERS ARE HEADING TO THE WORLD SERIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've seemingly lost both my Pokémon Platinum and HeartGold cartridges and it's really bumming me out. Especially because they're going for like $250 CAD online to replace them. :/

Well Dweller is basically, "What if we made Silksong but it wasn't stupidly frustrating and we respected our players time?" It's fantastic.

Terrible and disheartening. I was really hoping Ninja Theory could continue on with Senua. What a bummer, man. Damn. Hope people impacted are able to quickly recover from this. I couldn't imagine trying to find a new job in this bleak-ass industry.

This is why the 5-point system will always be king and you can’t convince me otherwise.

Thinking about it, I don’t use the whole review scale when thinking about numbers which is why I also don’t officially review things but if I used the whole scale it would be a 6.5 perhaps.

Finally beat* Mina The Hollower this evening. It was 𝘧𝘪𝘯𝘦 but definitely not my favourite game in the world. * - Using assists because holy moly the default difficulty is so friggin’ brutal.

Launching a new project with @wightnnerdy.com today called Discs > Digital - an apparel collection for video game enjoyers who still hit eject! If you’re at PAX West and want to buy - I have limited quantities with me. 😊

I must say, these are pretty slick 😏

One thing I’ve learned from using our fancy pans we got for Christmas is that seasoning them properly before cooking is absolutely clutch.

Whelp, I’m liking Mina the Hollower a lot more once I turned on a couple of accessibility options. No achievements for me I guess ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Digging into Mina the Hollower (pun intended) and it’s B.S. that achievements are disabled if you use any accessibility options. I’m thinking this game might not be for me.

My wife and I tried to look at a new car over the weekend and not only did the dealership have zero inventory of the model we wanted to test drive, but they have no inventory coming in for the REST OF THE YEAR. It's only July! What the hell is with that?

Whelp, it happened—over the weekend I jumped into a pool with my phone still in my pocket. Luckily it's fine since most iPhones are waterproof now. Derp.

Bethesda has shown no evidence that The Elder Scrolls 6 even exists beyond its initial announcement.

NEW: Bethesda has announced a slew of new Fallout games, including Fallout 5 and Fallout 3 + New Vegas remasters. The company also confirmed my scoop last week that it is working with Obsidian on a Fallout game. I spoke to Todd Howard about the roadmap: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

Been having some legit thoughts over the past couple of weeks of, "maybe gaming should only be an occasional hobby of mine going forward" because well, look around. The industry just rots a little more every day.

I’ve been reading a bunch about various soccer leagues around Europe (specifically the Premier League, Ligue 1, La Liga, etc.) as the World Cup is going on. I’ve discovered that some of their competition systems seem much better than typical pro leagues in North America.

I know it’ll never happen but I wonder if teams would avoid tanking if the NHL used a promotion/relegation system with the AHL or a separate tier 2 league. 32 teams (and potentially 33 if Houston gets one soon-ish) is just so many damn teams. “Wait, this city has an NHL team now?” is so commonplace.

I'm crossing my fingers that these studios are able to split off and survive because I would rather play a new Double Fine or Compulsion game over another paint-by-numbers Gears of War. This industry is grim man, goddamn.

Jason Schreier@jasonschreier.bsky.social

BREAKING: Several Xbox studios, including Compulsion, Ninja Theory and Double Fine, are negotiating with Xbox as they try to avoid closure. Some or all could spin off. Lots still in flux as many studios remain unsure about what's happening. Here's the latest: www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
