Like London, Paris has rapidly expanded its network of cycle lanes. It was great to get out and try them. Really inspiring but, like London, still lots to do - felt a bit scary at some of the junctions. #2CyclingCities

It’s always inspiring seeing what other cities do to make streets safer. In Paris, it’s impossible not to notice the ubiquitous zebra crossings that help give pedestrian priority on side roads. I’m delighted we’re working with Dept Transport to start trialing these at scale in London.

Paris - unlike London - has had the powers to regulate dockless e-bikes. Walking around, you can really see how regulations result in orderly parking. Government is giving UK cities similar powers so we can ensure bikes are parked as well as these in future.

La Tour de France Femmes is coming to London 🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️🚴‍♀️ Sun 1 Aug 27 - watch the world’s greatest riders on your streets for free! I was honoured to join La Tour in Paris today for the launch of the 2027 route. #TDFF2027

Good to be working in Haringey Council to improve walking and cycling in the borough, while making the roads safer for people. Exciting to see plans for new cycle routes coming forward 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

For decades too many junctions in London haven't had pedestrian signals - TfL is upgrading these to make it safer for people crossing these busy roads. Good to see the A217 London Rd / Cricket Green junction completed.

With 1.5m daily cycle trips, and the potential for many more, we're expanding London's network of Cycleways. Good to see the progress being made on the new Nine Elms bike lanes.

London traffic this morning🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲 Having expanded London's network of Cycleways from 90km in 2016 to over 450km today, there are now on average 1.5 million cycle trips a day. Wonderful to be part of this happy group of commuters.

We're working with London's boroughs to grow our Cycleway Network and enable more people to safely cycle around the capital. I'm looking forward to working with @LBHF who, last night, approved the new Olympia to Hammersmith section of Cycleway 9. 👏👏Cllr Nicole Trehy 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

As cycling in London soars, we're expanding London's network of Cycleways. Good to see the progress being made on the safety improvements on the A23 at Streatham Hill.

Cargo bikes in London are the new normal. Usage is up 126% since 2022 & major logistics companies are looking to expand their fleets - cutting emissions & congestion and saving money. Great visiting London-based manufacturer Minimal to see their operation & try out a new model.

On average there're now about 1.5m daily cycle trips in London🚲🚲🚲 We're working with boroughs to expand our network of Cycleways so that more people can safely cycle around the capital. Great to see the construction progress on the latest section on Cycleway 4 in Greenwich.

We've expanded London's network of cycleways to over 450km - and we're not stopping there. Good to see the construction progress on Cycleway 34 on Wood Lane in Hammersmith & Fulham.

The South Leytonstone Low Traffic Neighbourhood in Waltham Forest looks excellent. Early benefits show: 🚗🚗76% reduction in traffic 🚲🚲172% increase in cycling 🚸🚸safer speeds And I love the sustainable drainage & planting 💚☘️🌱🌳🌹🌻🌷

Cargo bike use in London is booming - up 126% since 2022. This week I joined 50 businesses - from Royal Mail to delivery firms, waste companies & tradespeople - to celebrate & raise awareness of this clean, green & economical alternative to diesel vans. #CargoBikeCruiseLDN

Ensuring young people adopt safe active travel habits early makes a lasting difference. That’s why we’ve launched TfL Navigators for 16-18 yr olds - a free programme giving schools & colleges ready-made lessons covering cycling & road safely. travelforlife.tfl.gov.uk

👀London's newest section of Cycleway!! This section of the Cycleway 4 extension - between Gallions Rd & Charlton Church Lane - is due to open this week. We've expanded our network of Cycleways from 90km in 2016 to 450+km today. And cycling across the capital is soaring🚲🚲🚲

Did you know that London is home to over 400,000 students? TfL offers a 25% discount on Santander Cycles to London students - making it one of the cheapest ways to travel around the capital. Great to see the team out talking to new students during freshers week.

Cycling is one of the best ways of exploring London - especially now we’ve got over 450km of Cycleways. To celebrate #WorldCarFreeDay, TfL & Santander are offering half price cycle hire membership 🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲🚲

Great to be in Manchester with Active Travel England. Loved exploring the city on fab new bike lanes & hearing Heidi Alexander announce £106m new investment in National Cycle Network. Plus @Chris_Boardman & @DameSarahStorey - Paralympic legend & Strictly star who does my job in here.

Since 2016, we've grown London's network of Cycleways from 90km to over 450km today. The number of cycle journeys have soared to 1.5m a day. We're not stopping there ... Great to see the progress on the new cycleway construction in Woolwich on route to Charlton, SE London.

This week I was pleased to be invited back to speak at London's Walking, Wheeling & Cycling Conference to talk the progress we've made, and the challenges & opportunities to come. Delighted to be on a panel with City of London, Hackney Council & my friend Ed Clancy who does my job in S Yorkshire.

Wonderful to join the New Cross Bike Bus this morning - enabling so many families to cycle to local schools in Lewisham. With over 870 school streets, more & more children are walking & cycling to school in London - a healthy, green and fun way to start the day 💚

In the 1970s, over 80% of UK children travelled to school independently. This has fallen to 25% - impacting health, well being, independence etc. In London, we're tackling the school run. With 870 school streets, 66% of kids now walk, cycle or scoot. ldd.news/uk-news/lond...

With over 870 school streets in London, 66% of kids are now getting to school by active travel. Every day there are 73,915 fewer cars doing the school run than when we started in 2016 - that’s the equivalent of a traffic jam from London to Newcastle.

Delighted to sign up for a monthly direct debit donation to the wonderful RNLI These heroic volunteers put their lives on the line to save others at sea. Thank you.
