A good time for people in western KS to remember that a 70 mph wind with fully leafed out trees and moist soil (which they currently have) hits a lot harder than the 70 mph winds of late winter and early spring that they so often experience.

On a personal note and in some rare good news, last week I finally finished and submitted my doctoral thesis: “Meteorological drivers of pyrocumulonimbus in southeast Australia”. It’s been a trying journey, at times, but I’m proud of the work I put into it and happy to finish. Now the long wait…
