A random nerd on the internet. The Right considers me "far left". I'm actually a centrist. The Republican Party left me in the late 1990s. I'm a capitalist, but I want a strong social safety net. I support LGBTQ+ rights, and the control of one's own body.

There is no decency in the Trump administration If for some bizarre reason you didn’t know that already, watch some clips of the Senate hearing involving Kristi Noem today

'UNIMAGINABLE CRUELTY': Judge Gary Brown, a Trump appointeee from NY, thrashes DHS' treatment of a man who came to the US at 9 as an abuse/neglect victim, has no criminal record and became a college grad. "The laws of decency condemn such villainy." storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

In @nytopinion.nytimes.com With attacks on speedboats in the Caribbean Sea, President Trump has ordered the summary execution of people who may not have committed the crime of which he accused them, the editorial board says. “It is a violation of legal due process that should alarm all Americans.”

nyti.msOpinion | No President Should Have This Kind of PowerEven if the allegations are correct, blowing up the boats is a lawless exercise in the use of deadly force.

Trump punishing law firms that represent his “political enemies” demands far more attention! Trump has now weaponized the federal government to punish two well known Democratic law firms. Unless there is a backlash, Trump will go even further. My article: deanobeidallah.substack.com/p/trump-puni...

Did I ever imagine that a single post of mine on social media would get this sort of attention—leading to interview requests from across the world, invitations to international conferences, requests to purchase the film rights to my biographical research and writing on Elon Musk? That would be a no.

$1,131,794,901 That's how much Big Oil has spent over the last 30 years paying off Congress to look the other way on climate action while the planet burns. Well, the planet is burning. Don't let them look away.

I'm of two minds on this. On one hand, I know children will die. On the other hand, antivaxxers are about to get a big dose of Darwin.

I've seen a child with tetanus, I've treated near fatal infections after chicken pox, and I've pronounced children dead from COVID whose parents refused to have them vaccinated. We have lost our minds... and are about to lose so many of our precious children.

This we need

Two senators have introduced a constitutional amendment that would establish term limits for Supreme Court justices, a long-shot escalation of the congressional effort to overhaul the nation’s highest court amid ethics scandals and sinking public approval.

Congrats to members of the Washington press corps who chose to play along with Trump. Thanks to your efforts, we’re going to have an FBI director who will prosecute journalists for doing journalism that Trump doesn’t like. Courts and the law won’t save you when your employer betrays you.

Of course. Because having a large number of sick people is good for society, in Trumpistan. Welcome to end stage capitalism.

The New York Times@nytimes.com

The National Institutes of Health, the world’s leading public funder of biomedical research, has long benefited from broad bipartisan support. But come January, when President-elect Trump and congressional Republicans take charge, the NIH may face a reckoning.
