made some changes to the built-in Material You themes. they no longer have a black background! also improved the contrast of text on buttons with that theme, and made donation buttons always readable in profile links (which previously looked bad with some themes)

the latest update to Witchsky comes with better interfaces for people writing in more than one language!

The fix @witchsky.app did to the unfeature @bsky.app upstream introduced in v1.136 is brilliant. 1. De-couple "Post Languages" from "Settings > Primary Language" 2. Introduce a multilingual-friendly "Settings > Default Post Languages" option 3. Rename "Primary Language" to "Translation Language".

sadly we lack a setup separate from Bluesky for translating interface text, so all of Witchsky's extra changes are only available in English. if you have a suggestion on how to juggle the two, do share

check out the extended keyboard shortcuts, especially for videos, by hitting the "?" key! (shift+/ on many keyboards) there are now so many that the popup will show them in two columns, space permitting. holding space for 2× speed and "c" to toggle captions just got added (use o to focus a vid)

Witchsky is not updating to the latest Bluesky version yet as it still has some bugs affecting web users! (and because they're blocking adult links instead of using the labeling system that already exists... once the former is fixed on their end, maybe we could help fix the latter!)

oops accidentally deployed the update containing the latest changes... 😶‍🌫️ here they are!: - switch emojis to Noto Color or Twemoji on the web! - new Sharp corners for avatars and buttons/interface (now in slider form) - the default avatar now has a witch hat 🧙 - URIs besides website links should work

and more keybinds! 🪄 < and > speed down/up video playback rates (which supposedly persist)! arrow keys also still work when focused on a video; those skip 5 seconds in either direction

if you changed your image format options in witchsky.app/settings/run..., you might want to change them back to the new defaults to get faster loading images!

for everyone else, this should come into effect without you having to do anything. also fixed a few other bugs and added a toggle for pasting anywhere to open links (which supports at-uris & other clients). you can still paste those into the search bar to open them!

The option to customize these emojis yourself will release once a good set of default reactions has been established! Also: did you know? keyboard shortcuts and masked links work in chats too! Another update - these features and fixes are now live.

WAIT I FORGOT after hitting the o key on a video: you can also hit arrow keys to seek , and . to scrub frame-by-frame and hit the ? key to see a full list of keyboard shortcuts! theme editing, some bug fixes, & a toggle for the reply dots (in Runes > Display) will deploy soon

we do recommend using Signal for private messaging though. (reaction customization was inspired by it. and they have stickers! bsky chat doesn't even have gifs yet.) also, Witchsky might get the option to use Google Noto Color emoji in place of the system default. (no other emojis come close!)
