I am grateful to @desaima.bsky.social for this thoughtful review of FOR THE LONG HAUL! "The people likely to get the most from this book are those of us who have already gone through many cycles of boom-and-bust social movement activity, and who are looking for fuel that burns longer and cleaner."

Saima Desai@desaima.bsky.social

As burnout stalks our social movements, @withmovements.bsky.social has written a much-needed new book about sticking around on the left for the long haul. For @wagingnonviolence.org, I wrote a review: wagingnonviolence.org/2026/10/burn...

May Day 2028 wasn’t initially about fighting Trump’s billionaire power grab. But since Trump took office, the terrain has shifted. Mass protests have become more frequent, and more urgently needed to stem the volley of attacks on workers and on democratic elections.

I felt so honored to speak with Sasha Lilley on Against the Grain Radio about FOR THE LONG HAUL! As I say in the interview, that radio program is such an important left institution.

Latest from me: I look at the case of the #minneapolis15, organizers charged with conspiracy to injure an officer that largely doesn’t seem to have occurred. Their community had rallied behind them in what can be a model for jail support in the face of authoritarian repression.

Waging Nonviolence@wagingnonviolence.org

In a case with sweeping implications for the freedom to protest, supporters are fighting hard on behalf of the 15 Minneapolis organizers singled out for resisting ICE.

Paul Messersmith-Glavin interviewed me about FOR THE LONG HAUL for @truthout.org. One tip I share: "Saying no to some things and setting priorities isn’t actually wrong. It helps us be more focused and effective. It doesn’t guarantee our success, but it increases our chances of winning more often."
