@council.seattle.gov KKKettle trying his best to look "important". What a fucking joke.
Seattle City Council members have submitted 170 changes to Mayor Katie Wilson’s budget proposal. One that is likely to stick would restore around $7 million in overtime to the Seattle Fire Department’s budget.
@mayor.seattle.gov VETO the RV Ban!
Via @hannahkrieg.bsky.social Regarding the RV Ban: @mayor.seattle.gov "should veto it and then make use of that organizer background to build pressure to flip one vote."

Hey Seattle! We can improve our @council.seattle.gov this election! Call your friends in the north. We need District 5 working class representation!
I'm Nilu Jenks, and I'm running because blue cities need to show they can govern. North Seattle has been left behind, and the people of D5 deserve as much attention, programming, and resources as the rest of the city. I’ll work hard everyday to change that, and I would be honored to earn your vote.

Seattle has a population of less than a million. Fostering a readership of even 2k active and involved (keywords here) people matters so much. Xitter (for all its terrible flaws) is mostly a tool for national exposure for those who can breakthrough. However, local politics are naturally niche.
I dont even post here and I have 4k. Im not being a sore loser I just dont like the posts as much here lol. no dopamine rush at all yet
@kuow.org So... Any hateful bigot with enough connections deserves a regular platform on KUOW? You really cannot find other conservatives to voice their opinion?
@council.seattle.gov KKKettle struck a nerve! The KKK didn't just murder black people. Gay, Lesbian, Brown, Indigenous, Immigrants were all targets of the hate group. Don't let the wealthy tokens on council try to cover how blatant white supremacy is in charge of their public safety mantra.
@callananseattle.bsky.social Wanted to clarify I want an answer from Strauss specifically, since he's the one behind the entire RV package.
"Which two locations in District 6 would you recommend to be turned into a Safe Parking Lot for RVs?"
@ericacbarnett.bsky.social @publicola.bsky.social I've been a long time reader and supporter of publicola as a whole. But this spiral against one particularly niche volunteer website is not a good look. 😞
It **is just an aggregator**. Is it neutral? NO. It literally doesn’t claim to be. It’s right in the name of the site! I’m curious why you’re focused on this? What’s the subtext?
@mayor.seattle.gov @council.seattle.gov (After this mess is untangled.) What ARE we going do to get people in shelter or tiny homes? And we can't do it alone! But the failure of KCRHA tells us that surrounding cities now have little interest other than to push unhoused people into our city.
Exclusive: The King County Regional Homelessness Authority, which is being shrunk and restructured to handle just the things it's currently obligated to handle (including overseeing the regional Homeless Management Inforamtion System) just laid off 2 more people, including its chief HMIS expert.
@council.seattle.gov Maritza Rivera is a dimwit. 🙄
Rivera is saying that if the council adds back stuff they paid for last year with one-time funding, "we will be seen as" adding to the city's structural deficit. Because that's what will happen. Because they approved a $175 million starting deficit last year. This is not new information.
@mayor.seattle.gov @council.seattle.gov This is basically SPD and KOMO

@council.seattle.gov Vote out the landlords and corporate stooges!
What's especially fun is that 6 of these CMs are up for election next year so whatever they do with the budget this year will be easier for voters to remember.
@mayor.seattle.gov @council.seattle.gov @councilmember-amr.seattle.gov How can business owners NOT want this? They seem to lack basic sales knowledge. More people in one area = more business opportunities!
A wonderful day at the Market. Thanks in large part to it being closed to cars!
Julie Kang is possibly accepting illegal campaign spending... Not surprising given her activities as a former banker convicted of fraud and mismanagement.
(Also unasked: is this actually… crime? Because it is illegal for a (c)(4) nonprofit to have as a primary activity intervening in elections, “primary” usually defined by ~50% of spend. And $100k/$160k = >62% which sure looks to be a primary activity www.skadden.com/insights/pub...)

If @mayor.seattle.gov's "austerity" budget forces Council Reactionaries to speak from a left/progressive side for the budget. I gotta say that is some well played 4d chess. ♟️
Soundside: 💰Brought to you by the Seattle Times
@kuow.org @kromandavid.bsky.social Poor effort in the "public questions" to Hollingsworth. Maybe one email about the fire department, and then an easy wnba question for the sports ball Councilmember. Wow... both hosts get easily charmed by smarmy guests...
I've been asking for this. Please Seattle journalists... I frankly can't afford multiple patreon payments, but could definitely do 1 monthly subscription for a non-profit leftist news clearinghouse.
Looking at Sara Nelson's new centrist AI slop website really drives home the fact that the Seattle left urgently needs to fund a 501c4 do the same thing (but made by humans and not boring, full of falsehoods and ugly af). I will gladly do that in exchange for the Area Median Income, hmu
@ericacbarnett.bsky.social @amysundberg.bsky.social @theurbanist.org @thestranger.com Ya'll got anymore hints of what's in the @mayor.seattle.gov's budget tomorrow? 😂
@mayor.seattle.gov let's gooooooooooooooooo!
BREAKING: In Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson's new proposed city budget being released Tuesday, there is no projected deficit through 2030. Given the state of the projected deficit over the past many years, this is quite an achievement.

@mayor.seattle.gov @council.seattle.gov Police killed a man, we need transparency.
Per photogsteve81 on Instagram, a man died while in Seattle police custody late last night—possibly while being restrained. The Seattle police still haven't issued a statement about it. They're referring any media inquiries to King County, which also hasn't issued a statement.

@council.seattle.gov Why are we paying millions upon millions for "public safety" yet these street takeovers keep happening across the city?
The entire argument and approach that council Reactionaries have for public safety:
Updated to note that Baltimore—whose lower violent crime Rivera says resulted from work by the consultant she says the mayor must hire—actually stopped consulting with that group after two failed efforts. Their recent success included a different focused deterrence strategy from U Penn.
@mayor.seattle.gov @council.seattle.gov Half-million for out of state consultants for "advice" is a stupid way to waste money.
Maritza Rivera Overstates Gun Violence, Pushes Mayor to Pre-Commit to Handpicked "Focused Deterrence" Contractor Rivera said there were 541 homicides in Seattle in 2024. There were 21.
