Two of my middle school boys got yellow cards in a game against a rival school today. Glad they played hard but also validated and vindicated that they misbehave lol

My favorite football team is pretty obscure. You’ve probably never heard of “the 10 year old boys who play matches during recess every day at my school” but they’re having a banner year.

Among all the explosions and power outages and fear, there are moments of sublime friendship and solidarity and love here in Kyiv. They’ll have to pry me out of this city with a crow bar.

New @nytimes.com piece ranks 30 education interventions on both effectiveness & costs. For me, the key takeaway is NOT about what academics (including myself) rated as most effective or least costly. It is about the decision making process districts use. 🧵 www.nytimes.com/2026/09/28/u...

The duty roster is different at my new school so now I watch the middle school girls play volleyball 2x weekly. Still a good time.

Most of the teachers at school are bilingual but they use Ukrainian to talk to the school therapy dog bc they’re used to recalcitrant kids not responding to English, just like the dog.

I’m old enough to remember “genocide is a crime so massive as to exceed any jurisdiction”. Just arrest him. Anyone can. Jurisdiction doesn’t matter.

Rep. Ocasio-Cortez told MeidasTouch's Luke Radel that the U.S. should be in alignment with the International Criminal Court which currently has a warrant out for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu.

Seven air alerts so far today. Most recently hearing explosions while walking through the maidan about an hour ago. Evening plans canceled bc the red line metro is often borked during air raids.

Finally someone with my exact politics. I’m a single issue cancel Thanksgiving voter.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

Francesca Hong was asked last night by Kaitlin Collins if she still believes Thanksgiving should be canceled. Her answer was not 'no.'

I’m at another hostel during karaoke night and someone here is whistling louder than the speakers along with the music. I guess it’s a Slavic thing but I had to leave the building. Horrific.

Scientists should study the tone deaf+lack of sense of rhythm+ shitty taste in music nexus among hostel travelers.

This might be the most life affirming thing you’ll see today : To the right : deep hole Russian missile left. To the left : Kyiv market buzzing , lively as always. Because nothing can stop life. Because even war can’t stop life .

Somewhat relatedly, almost every country I go to in Europe has a senior citizen who’s gonna try to cut me in line, just to cause problems at whatever situation it is. This morning an elderly guy shoved past me to get on a bus he didn’t have a ticket for. Argued with the bus driver and left.

I don’t know where you are right now, but there are 20 people behind you trying to get to where they’re going, faster than you’re willing to walk
