There is a massive gap between Machine Learning (ML)/AI expertise and Software Engineering. There is a BIG difference between creating an LLM and using one. ML experts in the spotlight trumpeting the end of Software Engineering are currently mistaken.

ML experts misunderstand the task. ML/Deep Learning experts are smart folks. And they work with smart Software Engineers to generate their models. LLMs are amazing. But there is a HUGE difference in creating a model and using a model and code generation is not software engineering.

The LLM to a Software Engineer is like a scalpel to a surgeon. A surgeon can save your life with a scalpel but how many surgeons know how to make scalpels? They definitely need each other to succeed though. Scalpel's inert w/o a surgeon. Surgeon can't operate w/o one.

LLM models treat programming languages like human languages, predicting the next likely token based on statistical patterns. They excel at isolated snippets, boilerplate syntax, and standard algorithms

Real engineering involves balancing non-functional requirements like security, scalability, legacy code constraints, compliance, and long-term maintenance—context that rarely exists inside a prompt snapshot.

ML experts mistake code generation for Software Engineering. Code Generation is translation and pattern matching. Software Engineering is risk management and lifecycle design.

TIL Electronic Arts is owned by Saudi Arabia.

Electronic Arts is cancelling the next Mass Effect game, laying off 400 people and shutting down Bioware to cut costs. It's the first major move after the company was taken over by Jared Kushner's private equity firm and the Saudi Arabian government's sovereign wealth fund. A huge loss for gaming.

So funny. And it appears to be real. This aired on national television and sports networks to reach tech-adjacent and professional audiences. Great thread here too.

The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

"Recreating a fully compliant, production-grade relational database management system like Oracle Database using a frontier AI model is fundamentally a multi-million dollar challenge, realistically costing between $1.5 million to $5+ million in API tokens, model orchestration, and compute overhead."

"The biggest financial driver when using frontier models for a project of this scale is Context Window Decay and Reasoning Tokens." So pair the LLM with a graph database such as Neo4j for managing context and you can save money in tokens for this project.

What if Starlink is just an unreliable technology? Folks like conspiracy theories these days and it's better publicity to be a villain than to be the face for a flailing product. But now I'm concerned for the US. Our DoD relies heavily on Starlink/Starshield www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

I asked the Super Intelligence if people should get vaccinated for measles, and it replied: Yes, people should get vaccinated for measles because the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine provides safe, highly effective, and lifelong protection against a severe and extremely contagious virus.

So it turns out that even though Gemini, Claude, Grok, and OpenAI strip mine the world of every and any possible piece of information to train their models on, they do not train on the public Epstein files for some reason, For those they rely on pre-trained public knowledge and search.

Excellent example of using graphs in #Neo4j to capture a factual substrate that encodes institutional knowledge providing the context AI agents require for reasoning at scale. Improved accuracy, performance and significantly less token spend. www.adyen.com/knowledge-hu...

Claude code is awesome. But dude, at one point in my career I spent so much time reverse engineering OpenXML and writing XQuery to manipulate that shiz for Word, Excel, PowerPoint in Office and now this bastard comes along and just does it in seconds!?!?

The truth is that red dye diesel is going to be hard for most folks to use and take advantage of. The exemption sounds good on paper though.

Over 18 American service members have died and over 750 have been wounded since the start of Operation Epic Fury, the war on Iran currently deadlocked in the Strait of Hormuz.

So, remember when folks were upset about the extended deployment of the USS Lincoln? Well, it turns out the USS John Finn, has been deployed for 319 days and the deployment's been extended another few months. Smaller ship so we don't hear much about it. Holds 270-300 sailors.

I really hope there's a next President. I really hope they're competent. And if they are, they'll bring Lina back and let her cook!

1 year ago, the national average price of diesel was $3.69-$3.75 a gallon. Today it is $6.34-$6.38. Diesel prices will continue to climb higher & set new records as the US-Iran conflict remains deadlocked and worsens. The 2 week "military operation" at the Strait of Hormuz is now going on 8 months.

Susan Collins, age 73, has been in office 30 years. When she ran in 1996 she pledged to only serve 2 terms. She's now coming to the end of her 5th term in office and is running for a 6th. If she wins she'll be 80 years old by the end of that term.
