This is my fun account. I'm here to get silly and take a road trip through strange times. Here to talk about weird games and books with weird people on a weird website πŸ’™ Pfp alt text: an angry red car. Credits to user roland81 on openclipart.com

I’m convinced the Vietnamese people invented the best sandwiches on earth specifically to upstage the French as an act of anti colonialism

Random thought on my silly car account. Was listening to Christmas songs for ~snowy solstice vibes and Sufjan Stevens' cover of Amazing Grace came on and there was a verse that just kind of hit me in my desperate need to savor the weekend and escape my work life

It was comforting but also sad. As I count down the hours before i go to a job that's fine but I don't really enjoy and am not paid especially well for the idea of a break that just keeps going sounded blissful. No counting down the hours.

Anyway didn't think I'd be saying anything so dumb by the end of this as "literal heaven sounds nicer than capitalism" but here we are. So I'll leave you with a happy solstice, an appreciation for pretty hymns, and an earnest plea to organize your workplaces <3

It was the whole "we'll sing your praise 10,000 years and have no less time than when we first begun" verse. I think of my weekends in terms of the amount of time I have left before work. So this idea of like "wow we've been singing and shit for awhile now and guess what we get to do it forever"

on β€œWonderful Christmastime,” Sir Paul McCartney set out to make a timeless christmas classic and also to figure out what every button on his synthesizer did, and he absolutely succeeded at one of those things

Starve them of attention

There are very few far right accounts on BlueSky. So if you block the likes of Nigel Farage, Tommy Robinson, Laurence Fox, GB News etc. as soon as they show up, they'll find it very hard to gain traction. (They're counting on the network effect of YOUR outrage. Don't give them the satisfaction.)

After a near strike by Philly area transit workers, PA Gov. Shapiro has secured an additional $153 million from federal highway funds for public transportation. These funds avoid a nearly 30% fare hike. Instead a 7.5% fare increase for SEPTA riders will go into effect on Dec. 1.

🚨ACTION NEEDED: H.R. 9495 includes a poison pill provision that is a serious threat to nonprofits. This bill would remove due process and hand over considerable power to future administrations. Join us in urging Congress to vote NO on H.R. 9495! πŸ”—bit.ly/STOP9495

Dear people of America: *this* is the kind of stuff you shouldn’t say in response to the Māori people and the US. You have Native and Indigenous people here, working *relentlessly* with our own practices and medicines that never go viral or get uplifted bc this culture refuses to give us the chance.

If a 22 year old tells you the earth is flat, it's not clear to me that "actually it's round and here's the evidence" is a better strategy than "lmao you fucking loser."

Coming over to #bsky because I feel like its a thoughtful approach to social media with openness to... well... openness and decentralization. Gave #Mastodon a shot for awhile but felt it lacked user mass/momentum. VC/crypto funding here still makes me a bit nervous tho. Anyone in the same boat?

You are up to date.
