I've lived in America, north and south, for 20 years of my life. I've lived in Europe, north and south, for another 20 years. During that time, I found some differences between Europeans and Americans, but the one that strikes me the most is pedestrian behavior at street intersections.
I thought technology was the solution to problems. Isn't that what technology is there for? To solve problems, making our life easier?

Groggy after a bad night’s rest, I stepped out of bed to my morning routine. It was Tuesday, and return-to-office mandates meant I wasn’t going to work from home today.

I love her. Yet there I was, choosing to listen to a YouTuber complain about some political issue, my team's bad performance during the weekend's game, or the pros and cons of owning a gravel bike I’m never going to buy—rather than spending time with her.
If wherever we look reality is bleak, where are we to find sources for hope and audacity? The answer is a conclusion I'm reaching ever more frequently: art.
I looked at my phone, and it was 8:00 AM. I felt a sense of accomplishment: I had managed to sleep after 6 in the morning. That's the time I struggle to wake up during the week when my alarm goes off. For some reason, it’s also the time I wake up without the help of my alarm during the weekend.

Self-service is a typical expensive coffee house move: charge higher prices but give less service. I could stick to my principles and walk out, but as long as they don't serve my coffee in a paper cup, I'm willing to accept the lost cause.

With the printing press came editions of the Bible in vernacular languages. This meant that those who could read could make their own interpretations of the Bible that ultimately led to the Reformation of the Church in the 16th century.

The couple sitting across from me in the train decided we all had to catch up on their favorite YouTuber’s Studio Ghibli reviews until the end of the line. While I was sitting there, internally bursting with fury, it hit me: I'm a victim of secondhand social media.
