💯 agree - it requires that we land on a standardized protocol for DM / GMs based on atproto IDs. All the same arguments for why AT Protocol was developed apply to the communications protocol. Needs to be open source and auditable. Closet we have to this right now is: bsky.app/profile/xmtp...

Today, @bsky.app + @atprotocol.dev devs can plug into XMTP to give users what they've been asking for: quantum-encrypted, secure group chats that scale to millions. With our XMTPID identity model, it's finally here. 1/5

Wave just added support for ATProto identities, becoming the first quantum-secure group chat app that connects ATProto identities with any other identity, secured by XMTP. That means any Bluesky, Blacksky, or XMTP identity can now join fully secure, interoperable group chats.

This isn’t just app-level messaging. @wavemsg.app is built on a shared, secure network layer on XMTP where group chats are: • End-to-end encrypted • Quantum-resistant • Privacy-preserving by design • Interoperable with any DID on XMTP

What if you could send a message to anyone in the world without having to download an app or even use a browser? Introducing XMTP CLI - Decentralized communication inside your terminal. npm install -g @xmtp/cli

We’ve been building towards this moment for the past 5 years. • 2022 → Secure DMs • 2024 → Scalable group chats on MLS • Today → Scalable group chats w/ quantum-encryption for ANY DID with passkeys • 2026/2027 → Fully decentralized infrastructure for any DID 4/5

We built XMTP to work with any open identity standard. @bsky.app + @atprotocol.dev is just the first example. Any identity system with DIDs can plug in the same way. This is how we build truly open, interoperable communication: protocol-first, identity-agnostic, decentralized infrastructure. 5/5

1/ Typically “office space” means employees only, badges, hierarchy, and half empty spaces. Closed to the community, users, customers, and partners. This changes today. Introducing the XMTP Switchboard - pop up offices around the world for our team and entire community.

3/ If you’re building chat apps, agents, mini-apps, infra, tooling w/ XMTP or building in the Bluesky community — you can request access below Once accepted, Our office is your office. Where should we host the first official XMTP Switchboard pop up? 👀

2/ What if Instead of 1 HQ we opened offices around the world all at once — for the people actually building and using the protocol? The XMTP Switchboard is a global network of offices for our digital community to come together IRL. We are launching 20+ offices in 12 cities around the world!

CHAT YOU CAN BUILD ON All of this runs on @xmtp_: • End-to-end, quantum-encrypted group chats • Open, decentralized messaging • Identity-agnostic access run on a passkey • Built for agents and apps Privacy isn’t a promise. It’s the default.

AGENTS LIVE NATIVELY IN CHAT Level up your group chat with adding @bankrbot - Send money instantly to everyone in the chat - Launch a token with friends - Find a prediction market

DISCOVER MINI APPS Mini apps run inside conversations and can be shared directly with a group. Users don’t leave the chat. Your mini app meets them where they already are.

CHAT IS THE NEW APP STORE In Base App, chat isn’t a feature. It’s where: - Mini Apps are discovered - Trading happens - Money moves instantly - Groups have fun For builders, group chats are the new programmable surface area.

As of today, XMTP is now a fully quantum-resistant decentralized messaging protocol. This means, any developer, anywhere in the world can leverage XMTP to provide their users with private, decentralized, & quantum-resistant messaging.

🥷 How XMTP defends against "Harvest Now, Decrypt Later" Our partners at Cryspen have been working on a post-quantum OpenMLS, & have implemented hybrid ciphersuites that can be dropped in to replace all cryptography with post-quantum algorithms. This now means no one can HNDL.

XMTP was built on the belief that private communication must not depend on trust in any single party, including us. We believe this architecture aligns with the highest privacy standards demanded by the most privacy-conscious organizations and individuals.

As of today, XMTP is now a fully quantum-resistant decentralized messaging protocol. This means, any developer, anywhere in the world can leverage XMTP to provide their users with private, decentralized, & quantum-resistant messaging.

Quantum computing isn’t just sci-fi; it will break the cryptography we rely on for messaging. While applications like Signal can protect at the application level, there has been no quantum-level secure open messaging protocol for developers. XMTP is this solution for the world.

To build a new communication network that requires global trust, you have to open source everything. True security comes from transparency. This is why XMTP's node software is open source—anyone can inspect, & verify every line of code. No more blind trust in a black box.

One inbox. Many identities. XMTP lets users link multiple identities + passkey or crypto wallet to a single secure inbox. This means any DiD, can link to XMTP and access secure, private messaging with XMTP.

XMTP is more than a protocol, it's a network of apps & identities. Meaning, the 2.2M identities on XMTP-- across @base, @ensdomains, @LC, @unstoppableweb & FIDs-- can use any app, such as @CoinbaseWallet, @family, or @converseapp_ (+ 60 other apps) This is true ownership. 4/7

XMTP combines optimum security with a comprehensive set of features so that devs can build consumer messaging apps: ✅ Secure group chats & DMs ✅ Reactions and replies ✅ Block/Allow lists ✅ Multimedia attachments ✅ Push notifications ✅ Disappearing messages 5/7
