This is a shameful deflection by Premier Smith to draw attention from her government's mismanagement of their funds. Albertans deserve so very much better.

This would be the same premier claiming in her 2023 "throne speech" that Alberta would be the 2nd largest province in the country by 2050 with a population of 10 million people. Meanwhile AB comes 4th in net federal tax (thousands of dollars) by province in all tax brackets for 2023 as per StatsCan

The UCP has been working hard to break Alberta's public healthcare + public education *on purpose* in order to privatize each of them and is now scapegoating immigrants. And anything that helps the separtists is a UCP bonus. But many of us can see what Danielle Smith and her party are doing.

Recently, UCP government advertised that “Alberta is open for business”, wanting to grow Alberta’s population to 10 million by 2030. Now, influx on new Canadians is blamed for overcrowded hospitals, schools, and deficit. In reality, mismanagement is the culprit, not immigrants.

Immigrants are not Alberta’s problem. They’re here legally. They’re the ones serving you coffee at Timmies. Populist governments need a scapegoat, an “out-group”. For Hitler it was Jews, for Trump it’s Latinos. It’s an un-Canadian and deplorable political strategy. #ableg
