I had a conversation with a former friend about the state of things. This would have been prior to the 2024 election and he was harping about Trump being “the only one who can stop China.” It wasn’t a great argument then because I was more concerned with losing democracy but…even that held no water.

I’m gonna be really honest I did not see Mitch McConnell making a comeback in any form. Like I realize he in no shape to be working, much less running a country, but I genuinely thought dude was checked out.

I don’t like talking about this but I was a couple of blocks from WTC on 9/11 as a student in high school. In that capacity I want to say that the people protesting @mayor.nyc.gov at the memorial can get fucked. Their only motivation is bigotry and they can’t even be bothered to articulate a lie.

Had to take away my kid’s screen and she was quarrelsome for the rest of the evening. Putting her to bed I tell her I don’t enjoy enforcing rules or fighting with her. She tells me “it’s ok dad, friends fight. We’ll move past it.” Blown away by the emotional maturity of an 8 year old.

My feelings about Veronica Mars are S1 was one of the greatest pieces of television in history and subsequent seasons were exponential disappointments. That said, it’s the only show where I feel like I lost my friends after a rewatch. There are few shows that I connected with the characters so deep.

I want to call out @govandybeshear.bsky.social. He clearly knows McConnell is dead but will be hidden away until 08/03. Does he force their hand and call a special election or go to the hospital? Absolutely not. He “called for” an update. In ‘28 he’ll want to be president because he’s “a fighter.”

Listening to @govwesmoore.bsky.social on Jubilee - the man has the patience of a saint. Despite understanding the frustrations, I always struggled with the conclusions of the “I don’t vote” crowd. Governor Moore met them with empathy and solidly defended his position.

I’ve never enjoyed televised sports. That said World Cup is infinitely more entertaining than regular games. Norway-Brazil was a fun watch.

I use a Colombian tire shop and today I was done around 3:50pm. Latest World Cup game started at 4pm and the place is officially open until 6pm. There’s a massive screen streaming the game. Good luck everybody else!
