Mostly I talk about myself, climate change, environment, probably some tech and governance stuff and Malaysia and UK stuff. And myself (must emphasise!). The little meowster in my avatar is Kavi.

As part of my effort for healthier, cheaper lunches, I soaked some dried beans last night and realised that I got a school science experiment free along with my food prep.

Day 4 update! It was a bit stinky when I opened it and the top left one was obviously growing mold unfortunately so I'm removing that one.

Muscle memory is INSANE. At least 15 years since I last played this piece and so long as I switched off my brain I got through it almost flawlessly. The switch from 2 to 6 flats I thought "wonder if I bothered continuing to learn this" and kept playing and turns out I had!!

I bought my piano books second hand mainly due to availability and also price. But now I have them I also love that they have a history with previous owners. I love the sheer dedication to this piece.

"...An unjust law is a code that a numerical or power majority group compels a minority group to obey but does not make binding on itself... By the same token, a just law is a code that a majority compels a minority to follow and that it is willing to follow itself. This is sameness made legal."

"...One who breaks an unjust law must do so openly, lovingly... who breaks a law that conscience tells him is unjust, and who willingly accepts the penalty of imprisonment in order to arouse the conscience of the community over its injustice, is in reality expressing the highest respect for law."

Personal experience makes me most glad I finally have a wedding ring to wear while travelling however current ring fit is loose, so with the chaos of traveling more likely to get lost if on ring finger! More incentive to get fit fixed

Rooting around my stuff in my parents house, came across my old #SimEarth manual. Pretty sure I learned ecology from this manual. Opened it up to find a write up from James Lovelock himself! Of course at 8 I had no idea who that was.

People working in AI have higher moral values than those working in fossil fuels I guess

Staff at the world's leading AI companies and institutions are being signed off work or quitting because of the mental strain of working on systems that are "out of control" and "causing real damage". Read the FT exclusive in today's #FTEdit 👉 ft.trib.al/fi7m6RB

She had a gnarly sinus infection this week so we're wrestling her 3x a day for eye drops. She's hanging in her carrier this evening, making it easier.I give her her last feed of the day and clean her up a bit.She drifts off to sleep purring and I remind her to make lots of red blood cells in her sleep

Sometimes I stress about not doing enough with my day then I remember I'm spending 4+ hours a day feeding cat & now I'm also gently massaging her forehead with a warm compress to encourage blood flow to her infected sinus and giving her eyedrops and I had a 2 hour meeting today...

...together with following through on a few things for the meeting, reaching out to a few people to arrange the purchase of a few second-hand things and tidying the kitchen a bit... and I realise I'm REALLY in deep in millennial productivity culture.

If all you care about is the climate, and not the ethics of eating meat, you can switch your protein from cheese to pig or chicken without guilt.

A guy I worked with once told me that he takes on different personas to keep his languages separate. This set of phrases from #glossika is really helping me with my Hakka woman persona.

#Glossika is free for learning Hakka btw. The two dialects they have are Hailu and Sixian, both Taiwanese suspects. I chose Sixian because apparently it comes from Meizhou which is where my mother's family comes from.

Do I strive to be the expert professional students look up to who turns up in a dusty car, lint rolling cat fur off my dress? No, but I figure it can't hurt.

Was it painful to get up at 7:30 and get dressed on Saturday morning? Yes. Was it worth it to see my mentored team of students grinning and waving at me from across the aisle? Also yes!

We expected at least one story or opinion piece, c’mon. P.S He’s the only person jailed over war crimes in Afghanistan, and the Attorney General can grant him parole.

So I only found out recently that I should be using my inhaler at first sign of flu like symptoms. Anything else I should know as someone with mild asthma who was only diagnosed late in life and was never given any real info apart from how to use my inhaler?

Just seen someone describe the type of work that I do as "facilitate speculative forms of slow violence..." and I'd really like to know what that means 😅

We're tube feeding her right now and every now and then she flops on her side and I make her get up to continue feeds. Here she is today putting her legs out to make it harder for me to flip her up
