KC Current and WoSo, KC Development, but mostly bad jokes.

11 wins, 4 draws, no losses. 6 comeback wins. 80% of games featured 3 or more goals. 80% had both teams score. Did KC have the most entertaining regular season at home in NWSL history?

This is the first time I've seen a list chart like this. Informative.

The 3rd annual @espn.com #NWSL Anonymous General Manager survey is here. Unfiltered takes on the High Impact Player rule, calendar changes, travel, rule breaking, how much teams are spending on rosters, and more:

The 2026 Sportspro 150 Most Marketable Athletes List--which until last week was a benchmark determining eligibility for the NWSL HIP Rule--was just issued. Only three female soccer players in the Top 150 this year: Russo, Putellas, Bonmatí. Also:

Crazy that KC had a 12.9% chance of a Top 4 spot, and now only need a win at Louisville, or a draw + Angel City draw/loss to Boston to clinch.

Last NWSL regular-season predictions of the season! Gotham is the heavy favorites for the shield, and Seattle are solid favorites for the last playoff spot. The odds for the title are wide open - no team has better than a 20% chance for a title, and 5 teams are above 10%.

If only Sporting KC had a Mike Jacobs in a critical role. *puts hand to earpiece* wait a moment, I’m getting information that Mike Jacobs was at Kansas City until 2017.

Nicholas Murray@njemurray.bsky.social

For a time, Mike Jacobs was at the USL in the precursor to the current Sporting Director role at the league. He was tremendous to work with then, and it's been brilliant to see the success he's achieved since going to Nashville.

Worst readings were around 60 µg/m³ ten years ago and it’s great to see it’s improving. Max readings of sulfur dioxide in the Great London Fog on 1952 peaked at 4,460 µg/m³.

Staying overnight in Bentonville, Arkansas. A ton of digital billboards with “Republicans, don’t sit out this race!” messages. Is the GOP seriously needing to shore up the vote in northwest Arkansas?

Ball and Rocky are available. This is the shortest not-clear-to-play list fir KC in a looong time.

#KCvWAS NWSL Availability Report Kansas City Current OUT: Alana Cook (Knee - SEI), Clare Gagne (Head - SEI), Mary Long (D-45), Ellie Bravo-Young (ML) Washington Spirit OUT: Deborah Abiodun (Hip - SEI), Aubrey Kingsbury (ML), Casey Krueger (ML), Kate Wiesner (Ankle - SEI)

This is where I kinda wish Gotham and Spirit had drawn last weekend. If KC then beat Spirit by a goal, they’d have been tied on points and goal difference. Final week would have been a battle for goal difference—KC vs. Louisville, Washington vs. Chicago.

Wait, all I have to is be a toxic ass and I’ll get a private luxury suite comp’d to the women’s pro sports team of my choice? What could possibly go wrong?

*obligatory skeet whenever I watch a game in Portland* sportsgrass technology has improved so much in the past 15 years it’s CRAZY the Timbers/Thorns are still on synthetic turf.

Okay. I’ll say it. Good job, Jessica Berman. Good job in getting owners to understand that the NWSLPA’s issues were reasonable and that resolution of these issues were a far better long-term option going forward.

Footwear grievance resolved. COOP WINS.

Jeff Kassouf@jeffkassouf.bsky.social

BREAKING: The NWSL and NWSLPA have settled several grievances, including the High Impact Player rule. The criteria is wiped (still 12% cap charge). ANY player can be HIP. Also settled: Other Rodman grievance, footwear grievance. Greater $ transparency reporting now required. More on @espn.com:

If Missouri, with Jeff City pulling out all the stops to get a 7-1 delegation, ends up with a 5-3 delegation, I shall be amused.

Oh. The fifth is… whelp…

Nate Gilman@nrgilman.bsky.social

We've gotta talk about MLS defending (or lack thereof) after this season. The four worst defensive teams in 2026 currently account of four of the worst five team defensive seasons since 2013, which is as far back as @americansocceranalysis.com's database goes.

And I know what you're thinking, "Ahh, 4 goals vs. Washington and 5 goals at Louisville." Nope. A stunning eight goal effort against the Spirit followed by a goal at Louisville.

I can't think of a season where NWSL MVP was still so open. I think it's down to five players: Sophia Wilson, Trinity Rodman, Jaedyn Shaw, Ashley Sanchez and Sveindís Jónsdóttir. The last two games will determine it.

Humbled and honored to know that the NWSL designed their stats page for the explicit purpose of making me incredibly irritated. You crushed it.

Someone attempted, and failed, to purchase Paul Masson wine with one of our credit cards. My only other point of reference to this brand of alcohol is the 1970s Orson Welles outtakes from a commercial for this wine.

An investigation into DR Congo/Rwanda would uncover some absolutely odious behavior surrounding a full-blown genocide. I hope someone does it soon.

The White House investigation into a dispute between two prominent Trump supporters, Richard Grenell and Alina Habba Mildon, centers on a $17 million bank transfer from a Democratic Republic of Congo government account to a Texas defense company.
