A professional geek. This one time, on Jeopardy, I got to respond correctly with "What is Nine Inch Nails?" and it made my day. This profile consists mainly of three things: #Jeopardy, #FFXIV, #simracing twitch.tv/zer0bandwidth

Relatively minor when juxtaposed against the fraud, murders, and war crimes of which they are already guilty, but it is remarkable how the current US executive branch leaders want to normalize a level of foul language in their public speeches that would simply not be allowed on television.

Ah, yes, late October, when it starts to get cold enough that my knees hurt constantly, and I'd rather rot and squirm in bed for an hour than roll out of bed and go to the bathroom like I really needed to the whole time.

The worst game company on Earth killed one of the best to ever do it; rogue AI uncovered and published a critical vulnerability in the language that large swathes of the internet are written in; and one of the keys used in foundational levels of cryptography is apparently 4. Quite a day.

Do you... do you think she lets him call her Ivanka......

Trump repeatedly taps his thigh as he walks to board Marine One. You can then see Natalie Harp come into the shot to board the helicopter as well.

My favorite thing I've learned so far tonight on #Jeopardy is from Ron's interview: You can make a pretty decent map of Alaska by turning over your right hand and extending your thumb "south" and index finger "southwest".

We laughed at Michael Scott when he said this would work. For some reason Troompaloompa thinks we should take him seriously.

Q: You said Russia and Ukraine agreed to a ceasefire, but both sides said they have not agreed to that TRUMP: Well they agreed, you know why? Because I said 'you agree.' That's why.

You're going to laugh, but... Star Trek IV. It was one of the first movies I ever saw in the theater. Most of the movie is pretty light-hearted, but for some reason, that giant alien cylinder shouting whale noises in space scared the bajeebus out of me.

Sleepy Hollow Reviews 🎃🐎@sleepingvillage.bsky.social

In honor of scary media month: what is the first piece of media you remember truly frightening you as a child?

Oh, wait, I thought of an even earlier (and, as it happens, even weirder) one: TV ads for Wausau Insurance. They always ended with this super-dark blue-on-black picture of what looked, to me, like some creepy shack in the deep woods, accompanied by a loud musical sting (mostly percussion).

Oddly that line does touch on an actual truth, which is, things are "worth" only and exactly what you can convince someone to pay for them. Which explains why he's so full of himself — because millions of voters mortgaged the lives of their children and grandchildren to put him in office.

Trump: "If we decided not to buy watches from Switzerland, they wouldn't be elite anymore and we would save about $40 billion"

Currently watching how many of the 1000 people on a misfired email distribution list are too oblivious to notice they've hit Reply All when trying to be removed from it. I don't know why I was on that list, but I'm now too amused to care. Even smart people be dumb sometimes. #JustGeekThings

And now our first meta-genius winner who just replied-all trying to tell someone privately they replied to the wrong person when in fact they, too, replied-all. The raw message count is also no longer a usable metric as folks have begun to chime in with "please don't reply-all" replies-all.

The chickens in #SlimeRancher2 get their kicks watching #Jeopardy. I'm not joking. (Well, OK, there are some jokes in the ALT text, but I'm serious about what's in the game.) Absolutely brilliant. This is GotY material.

💬It's just a dump to the left... 🎶...and then a plop to the right! 💬Put your hands on your hips, 🎶and turn your knees in tight, 🎶then a colonic thrust; the noise it makes is insane! 🎶LET'S POO THE TIMEWARP AGAIN! —OR— Once this toilet hits 88 gallons per minute, you're going to see some serious 💩.

Genuinely concerned about what's happening to the space-time continuum in this toilet.

I saw that look on my dad's face a lot, toward the end of his life. It was the look of a man no longer capable of comprehending the world around him.

TIME: You said you might annihilate Iran TRUMP: Yeah, I would do that. It's possible. TIME: How can the president of peace be calling for annihilation of an entire people? TRUMP: Bc by annihilating Iran, we've created peace in the world. With Iran, I don't think you could ever have peace.

I mean, I *guess* that's *one* way to frame the utter and total destruction of Americans' ability to save money for retirement.

Trump Labor Secretary Keith Sonderling: "We're seeing people staying in their jobs longer now ... we're seeing people very happy where they are in their jobs because employers are doing better."

Sitting at my desk and suddenly wishing that Sir Patrick Stewart were on Cameo, so I could humbly request a dramatic reading of the line, "Give me fuel. Give me fire. Give me that which I desire!" Because that is the sort of self-torture my brain inflicts on me when it's allowed an idle moment. 🤓😅

Largo and Naphyr are now older than I was when I first imagined them. Naphyr first appeared in a D&D campaign in 2001. Largo was a replacement character in a Planescape campaign in 2003. Jeeeeebus, I'm old.

They want to call it Super Intelligence instead of Artificial Intelligence because they don't want to be constantly reminded that it's fake and they will remain as stupid as they always were; they instead want to feel superior to the people whom they know are, and always will be, naturally smarter.

They are the bullies and the toadies whose feelings of inferiority lead them to beat up the smart kids while shouting "HA HA YOU'RE STUPID YOU'RE THE STUPID ONE" and secretly crying inside because they know they're living a lie but the truth hurts even worse.

My local station just cut off tonight's #Jeopardy episode less than a second after the last FJ wager was revealed, before Ken had even finished saying it aloud, because they are smart and great at their jobs. 🙄

I got up this morning thinking about chilling out and playing games. One side of the sink has been full of dishes for, like, a year. So I settled in to just do the dishes. That led to discovering that the disposal is broken and clogged. The universe is making me regret being responsible today.

There were more little things, too, that kept adding to the mess. And the regret. You know that one "Malcolm in the Middle" cold-open where Hal ends up with half the house and car torn apart and all he wanted to do was change a light bulb? Kinda like that.

I was seated at the deli next to some old guy proudly wearing a red hat emblazoned with "TRUMP 2028", and, dear reader, I am now safely home, having neither spat on his food, nor peppered him with obscenities, nor slapped his ignorant face, nor tripped him on his way out the door. Please clap.

Maybe the average AI evangelist is motivated by a deep dissatisfaction with his previous interactions with humanity. And maybe those interactions were dissatisfying because the average AI evangelist is an irredeemably narcissistic piece of shit who lacks both introspection and empathy.

Watching #WheelOfFortune is weird this week. Were the contestants and audience still hearing Mr Chat Room in the studio? Have they credited the emergency voiceover guy yet? What other Magic of Television has been edited in?
