Man, just beat Horizon: Zero Dawn again for the second time (been a while), and.. what a gut punch. Outstanding storytelling in that game with probably one of the most heartfelt protagonists ever. Looking forward to finally playing the sequel soon.

Finished a nice long rewatch of all of the Stargate series, and... man, it makes me sad that we had over a decade of some of the best science fiction ever, only to end up with a trash filled desert of the modern era. (Yes, Expanse was amazing, so was Westworld S1, but extremely few & far between.)

Man, I grew up with jolt cola as the original "energy drink", so seeing it back (but ONLY available in utterly disgusting "diet" varieties) is disappointing. Really wish America (and Europe in this regard too) would get over its fascination with using chemicals instead of food =/

Eight hours. I was doing contract work for various agencies, got hired for a temp-to-hire thing doing desktop PC repair / support. PRETTY sure it was a clerical error and they went with another agency, they had no clue what to do with me. Got paid at least, but wasn't worth it.

Rare double post, but the more positive side of the coin! Stargate SG-1 by a long shot (or hell Atlantis / Universe even, the entire franchise). It encapsulates all of the adventure (and some of the philosophical aspects) of Trek, but with almost no bad episodes. For comedy, probably KOTH.

This one is fun, but it would also be cool to find out: what TV show is so good you'll rewatch it over and over, sometimes just on a whim?

Few contenders here, but "The Walking Dead" is in top rankings for sure. Loved S1. By the end of S2 I hated most of the cast, and by S3 I was totally checked out. "Westworld" is another contender, except S1 remains amazing - just ignore everything after, it turns to complete trash by S2 end.

What TV show got so bad it effectively destroyed your appreciation for the show when it was was good?

I'd include things like "Lost" but everyone else already said that, plus being honest I made it a whopping two episodes before I checked out. Loved the first episode, did not give two shits about whatever "horror mystery" they were trying to do, I just wanted "survivorman" but fictional.

People at work are being EXCEPTIONALLY lazy today, and trying to shove every issue my way as if I didn't do that all week already. Nope. Done. "Quiet quitting" for the day, as they say. If people want to put 0 effort in sending shit my way , they get 0 effort put back.

Sure, why not, I'll bite. Mass Effect came later in life, but the rest were pretty influential in some way. JA2 got me into tactical, BG2 served as my first intro to tabletop D&D, etc.

Furries: Man, Twitter is awful and run by / full of fascists and trolls, people shouldn't use it! Also furries: Anyway check out my new art, which I post on Twitter. What? Stop using it? Why should I do that? I thought this was a 1 week moratorium.

One of my 'fav' furry archetypes: the self-chatter. Vomits a total non-sequitur into the void, nobody responds. Proceeds to respond to their own message 10, 15, 25+ times until the entire chat is just a stream of their consciousness. My man, if nobody was interested in the first 3 messages, stop

I am very tired. In general. Every single day at work is 20 different people coming to me with 30 different problems that has had 0 actual effort put into any of them. I ask people for simple tasks, either get stonewalled (cybersec people all suck) or outright ignored until it's a problem for THEM

*Opens BSKY* "What's the discourse for THIS week?" * "Third spaces for adults: Should they even exist?" * "Girls, eww" * Fandom fash supporter travels to hostile country "Yeah ok, that's enough internet for today.."

Picked up Elite: Dangerous again over the weekend since I hadn't played in ages. Flying around in my ships is neat. About two hours later I remembered why I stopped; good lord this game is boring as hell once you've seen most of the generated terrain planets. Lots of "stuff", but little to do.

Before the price dropped, I waffled on whether or not I wanted that new Steam VR set or not - it looks like it solves the problem of having annoying shit to set up, a big hurdle. That said, there's still hardly any VR titles out there, and at $1k+ that's pretty steep for something I'll barely use..

I still sorta want one, but the realist in me keeps shooting it down since I *know* it'll be one of those things I use for 3 months and then never again. If it were $500-600 this would be much of an easier decision. At least this should hopefully invigorate the VR 'scene' with more games

My time of hating Apple sure has come to a middle. Nobody wants to be constantly recorded. This is fucked. I am serious when I say if I EVER see anyone in the fandom / friends groups wearing one of these, I'm absolutely demanding they leave it in the car. Stop buying this crap.

Pop Crave@popcrave.com

Apple announces 'Live Rewind' for the new Apple Watch, letting users pull up the last 15 seconds of nearby conversation.

The worst part about this is that I have no freaking clue what a "new" one looks like compared to an old one (and neither does 98% of the public), so I guess we're just going to have to stigmatize anyone wearing an Apple watch as if they're secretly recording us? Just get an analog, they look better

I am so, SO sick of hearing about "AI" anything that I've started (in sales meetings I get stuck in) outright cutting the person off and saying "Please don't talk about anything AI, I don't want to hear about it" and then hearing them sigh heavily. None of it is useful, stop shilling it

"Hey we have this new feature we're working on that sets fire to 500 sticks of ram and drains 2 small ponds. It will make it so much easier to sort your emails and..." SHUT. UP. Find another job or something, stop shilling evil crap.

This shit. This right here? This is why despite being nerdy / in tech, I have absolutely zero interest in any sort of "new" thing coming out. It's ALWAYS some nefarious scheme, nobody can just *make a thing* anymore. I'm just going to keep using my pre-2020 stuff until I die I guess. Nothing new

It's finally happened: the improved quality of machine transcription and the greater ability to extract value from unlabelled data means "your tech is eavesdropping on you for marketing purposes" has crossed from "false conspiracy theory" to "true and concerning" www.theverge.com/tech/991190/...

Also, people who like to say "no, your <device> isn't listening, those targeted ads are just a coincidence" need to really stfu. WAY too many times I've talked about some completely obscure thing, only to suddenly be given ads for it. You will NEVER convince me this is "just a coincidence".

There's always one dude at every job who has utterly zero life, and wants nothing more than to work every second of every day without downtime. This wouldn't bother me if they also didn't try to make it everyone else's problem. It's Fri before a holiday weekend. Stop messaging people for work!

Seeing a *constantly* problematic performer get platformed yet *again* by a convention despite years and mountains of evidence that they'll never change (just like a certain gryphon) just further reinforces my mindset that cons are corporations / businesses and should be treated as such.

Hot take, I know, bear with me. TRUE community events are run by people who are in touch with the issues, the needs, and the demands of the space they inhabit. Corps care about money and positive press, ignoring the above until it becomes "too much" of a problem and impacts their bottom line.

When an event eschews their responsibility to research who they're platforming, I don't see how they're any different than a corporate-style thing (ComicCon, etc, no offense to them). IMO demand better. Demand board resignations / better leadership. Stop going to the ones who do this stuff.

I saw Coyote Vs Acme this weekend (and again today) and everyone needs to go see it. Such a great, heartfelt movie that feels in the same place vein as Roger Rabbit. A perfect blending of toony and "real world". I would live in that universe

As far as I could tell, this place was only ever popular because they had a cute mascot. Nothing of value lost here, we have cute mascots at home. Hope they go under. And if it's shitty gas station cuisine you want, there's always Wawa.

Young Frankenstein. Love Mel Brooks movies in general, but I simply do not see the reason why people love this one. Watched it and thought it was boring as hell, and the jokes weren't all that funny, a real snoozefest.

This shit right here? This is why I have not watched any superhero crap since "Endgame" and likely never will again. I am not putting in 40+ hours of homework, watching a ton of slop, just so I can *checks notes* watch some new slop that's coming out.

Ready for your Avengers Doomsday homework? Marvel has released a watchlist of 15 movies and TV shows you should watch before December 18 rolls around. https://bit.ly/3UmhwmS

I am extremely 'done' with people at work sending me messages that consist of nothing except "Good morning" or "How are you". If you can't be bothered to tell me what you need from me in the same message as your small-talk "hello", then I'm gonna assume it's bullshit and you get a response in 2 hrs

Seeing conventions open up rooms and subsequently selling out within *literally* 1-2 minutes is just a painful reminder of why I've given up on the idea of attending most furry cons anymore. "Lotteries" and whatnot don't help, the entire process is just stressful and sucks. Need more small events

Pretty cool learning that there's smaller events / cons starting in this area, possibly? One of the reasons I don't really go to cons anymore is because it's too fucking stressful just setting it all up. I don't want to roomshare, and if you don't have split second timing nowadays you're screwed.

Cons (imo) were best when they were small, tight knit events of under 800 people or so. Things where parking wasn't an ordeal, you could actually find folks, and you had more than 1 day to decide if you wanted a room or not. Some still exist - FURG seems to be of that nature for now. Looking up!

Red Dead 2 or Cyberpunk 2077. Really didn't like the main characters for either of them, didn't get the huge praise for the writing or plot. One you're a dumb cowboy who does dumb things, the other an errand boy for people you just met. RDR2 at least had gorgeous scenery though!

No hate, no dogpiling, just curious. For me, it's Skyrim. Don't know why, considering it should be exactly my kind of game, but it just didn't click for me.

I genuinely am frustrated I disliked both of these so much. Both are right up my alley in terms of types of games, and I adore cyberpunk as a genre. The writing in both is what I bounced off. Hard to get immersed when I don't really care about the characters or motives

*Sees Bsky allows you to turn off reposts from people individually now* Huh.. *Turns reposts back on, suddenly feed is slammed with 200 porn posts and links to political articles* *Quickly turns that back off* Yeeah, I think I'll stick to quote-reposts only. Yikes.

One of the main reasons why gatekeeping is a good thing, is that without it you get "dilution". With it, communities are kept niche, catering to those who understand the history and issues. Without it, you end up catering to those OUTSIDE the core interests, which is how you end up with "tourists"

The fandom has had a lot of "fandom tourism" over the last few years due to this. Tiktok folks who find us "weird" but get engagement with fursuits. Random gay dudes coming into the fandom without any real connection other than "easy access". A little quality control isn't a bad thing.

Pretty hilarious watching a person go full conservative "won't someone think of the children!" over a social media post by a local con having fully clothed (but perhaps a bit distasteful) art. As if hordes of kids will be irreparably harmed by seeing a cartoon in underwear with a large package.

First off, you need only go to the clothing section of a store to see men's bulges in underwear - it's often on the packaging! Second, the idea that we need to present a squeaky clean image for every event in order to cater to normie's sensibilities needs to die. Keep furry queer. Keep it weird.

I may just be cheap (in fact I'm fairly certain I am), but does anyone else have a STRONG distaste for ever paying for parking? I wouldnt mind it if it was cheap, but towns want crazy fees to park in garages or on the street. That shit should be like 50 cents an hour tops, you aren't DOING anything

I don't mind paying when I get a service, but there's literally zero services involved in this. The streets are paid for via taxes. A garage is just a big concrete slab with minimal maintenance. It's like landlords charging crazy rents "because they can".
