I am trying to imagine how an environmental lawyer named Robert Kennedy Jr., who made a name for himself protecting the Hudson River, now feels completely calm about working for a team that is actively working to polute it. Does he get a waiver for Westchester County like Collins gets for Maine?

nytimes.comHow Trump Gave the Worst Polluters a Free Pass (Gift Article)The president temporarily waived clean-air rules for industrial facilities that spew cancer-causing gases. Then his appointees worked to gut the regulations altogether.

Of all the programs that have bloated into AI unusability, the leader of the pack has to be Adobe Acrobat. It takes me a couple minutes now to open a simple PDF, and I have to explain why I don't want a podcast of my confidential legal contract along the way.

Completely underwhelmed by European soccer teams in the World Cup knock-out stages. All of the dynamic attacks from Germany, Netherlands and Norway have been replaced by boring, timid side-to-side passing.

I was old enough to have some memory of the Bicentennial celebration. This one feels totally different. It's been made to seem as though the only way you can love your country is by loving Trump. Quite sad, actually.

It is clear to most of us that our highest government officials are no more competent than the guy at the end of the bar. But it will not be long before that fact becomes clear to all of us irrespective of our politics.

Trying to imagine what someone like Tulsi Gabbard is thinking after making a reputation of "no foreign wars" and then being in a managerial seat in the multiple foreign wars administration.

It seems to me that the journalist instinct has died. We have a scandal involving 2 presidents, CEOs, possibly spies and espionage involving multiple countries. And yet, we can't seem to find it on the front page of every major newspaper or a banner on every TV news show.

We all know but it bears repeating - the reason that Pam Bondi cannot go after the obvious pedophiles like Prince Andrew is that there is far clearer evidence against her boss. If the evidence against the former was sufficient, the evidence against the latter is damning.

Most of the software programs that I have used for many years now have a AI interruptor that tries to prompt me to do something I don't want to do when I know exactly what I do want to do. These are not valuable. They are like Clippy, but without the smile.

The current state of customer service for most most monthly renewing software is very poor. Should you need to talk to a person, forget it. The best you can hope for is an info email buried seven layers down.

It's time to shut down the government. Many states are funding it but not receiving legally apportioned benefits. It's already broke and until R's are willing to be equitable, at the very least, shut it down.

Current law gives free license to cable news to peddle lies which is really a loophole that needs to be closed. I would rally behind whatever politician of either party that would seek to close that loophole.

It is becoming clear to me that the U.S. is reaching a point of no return. We've given up Europe. China can exercise essentially unlimited control of the Pacific. The U.S. is nearly alone in the world, so we are going to "take over" LATAM because we have no friends.

Realize that if the stock market tanks, there will be no thing that #DJT can point to to suggest he's done anything for the economy. The likelihood that a major correction will occur over the AI bubble is high. The only question is when.

I am still sort of shocked how unconcerned the national media seems to be about the destruction of the East Wing of the White House. What more do you need to see? We're lazily watching the replacement of our consitution with an oligarchy.

Today, Stephen Miran will lie to Congress about his views of Central Bank independence. Republicans will call him qualified and he will be appointed as Governor of FRB with the goal of weakening the dollar and damaging international trade. Somehow, this will not make the news.

To be clear about Trumpanomics - we're headed toward a downturn, but Trump will use this as an opportunity to blame Powell. Like, if we just had lower interest rates, all the other bad decisions will go away. It is worth pointing this out so that we aren't surprised in Q4 when this happens.

Some MAGA are likely to say at some point that DJT finally has succumbed to the swamp... to the "deep state" ...ruined by DC. The reality is that he has brought corruption to new levels by his own hand and that was his intention from the beginning.

As a student of Russian history, we sort of assumed that Tsarist brutality made communist terror palitable - that Russia was alway going to be "that way." Putin confirmed it. But the U.S. was suppose to be Tocquevillian, washed in unmitigated freedom. And we are now giving all that up for that guy?

It is hard for me to believe that red states want this. It is basically a sale of their hiking, hunting and fishing places to development. Are we such an impoverished country that no place is safe from development? www.fastcompany.com/91354978/map...

fastcompany.comMap: All 250 million acres of public land the Trump budget bill would sell offThe Senate's reconciliation bill would mandate the sale of at least 2 million acres of public lands. See where they are.

China is working to dry up the supply chain to the U.S. and find new markets for its goods. The U.S. is not only attacking China in its trade war but also EU, LATAM and Canada - essentially all our partners. Who do you think will break first, China or Trump? The answer here is obvious.

I am going offline for Lent, and I would recommend the same to my fellow Catholics. To those who support Trump, I would ask that you look hard at Jesus' teachings. Are they reflected in your support? To those who don't, has your anger poisoned him or you? Reflect. Repent.

A useful summary of some ways that Trump is currently using the White House for enrichment: www.startribune.com/coins-watche... Note that payment is for the most part in bitcoin, in other words, not easily traceable. My fellow countrymen, how are we allowing this to happen?

startribune.comCoins, watches and more: A look at Trump's crypto-related ventures, by the numbersDonald Trump has leaned into his unofficial role as the '' crypto president '' in ways that can both help the crypto industry and enrich himself and his family.

If you connect our Russian capitulation to aggressiveness toward neighbors in our own hemisphere, you are left with the sense that what we are probably witnessing is less the breakdown of old alliances and actually the beginning of an new Axis of Evil. I pray that isn't our endgame.

There is zero in common between the society being crafted by Trump/Musk & the ideals espoused by Russell Kirk. It stands athwart tradition & disregards convention. It is a permanent class of property-holders with their hands on the levers of government. It is the death of human potential.

You are up to date.
