What additionally sucks about commercial LLMs, which literally no one needs & are vastly indefensible, is that it poisons the well for discourse in STEAM-contexts where it's use & applications used to be celebrated (protein-folding sims, enemy NPCs, photoshop magic-lasso tool shit, etc).

It's really easy for them to use any other term to accurately describe what they're doing—if it's not 'gen ai'/LLM junk—and to be taken seriously, they will have to put in that tiny bit of effort. bsky.app/profile/symb...

totally! my point was only that LLM's are erroneously squatting the 'AI' label - such that people are at risk of retaliating against games that simply have NPC enemy AI. maybe 'gen.ai' could be the differentiating nomenclature to denote that difference though.
