BREAKING: We're suing the National Institutes of Health over their politically-motivated purge of research grants. This is an unlawful attack on scientific progress that puts lives at risk.

I guarantee, Stopping studies WILL cost lives. There're >>people dependent upon Clinical Research funding to receive study drugs/care they need to survive. THOSE PEOPLE WILL DIE because of Trump's ignorance, RFK JR's brain worm &/or greed, GOP's dishonesty & XXXXXXX corrupt US Supreme Court Justices

Great work ACLU. But don't make trans rights--which are important--the *first thing* you list in your website. How about *womens* rights? They're half the world, and are treated like shit.

I have also upped my annual donation to the ACLU as well as to PP, and many other organizations. If the government will not fund, we have to support as best we can.

Exactly. I gave up DoorDash in December. I'm a bit ashamed to say how much money that's freed up for the ACLU. The best thing is you can point to everything they do and say that was my f****** money right there I throw a lot of pillows at the ground triumphantly these days

@aclu.org Yay! And also, is anyone suing over the loss of gender affirming care for veterans? Asking as a transgender veteran whose care, except for hrt was shut off this week. Examples of lost access to care: Mental health Behavioral health Speech therapy Group therapy Prosthetics And more

If this administration cared about the law, and the courts cared about upholding it, none of these purges would be happening in the first place. But good luck I guess. Lawyers need to make money too, and they'll get their pay regardless of the outcome, so they don't care either way.

Just one example. Cervical cancer incidence and mortality rates have declined by over 50% in the past 40 years. 15 years ago, as an MD, I was a data collector for best screening methods, Pap &/or HPV screening. Without NIH funding & national efforts, these methods would not have been available.

Please include MOSAIC fellows and F31 predoctoral fellows who had grants halted because these programs aimed to bring more people into science. (and for the naysayers - these programs were open to scholars from states with lower median incomes which are predominantly red. Diversity isn't just race.)

Thank you ACLU! The Trump administration is hurling us back into the medieval church state that killed anyone for saying the earth was flat. The heavy hand of heresy stifled innovation in Europe for millennia. Where would the world be without the innovation we've had in this century alone!

I hope this includes NIGMS programs like IMSD, IRACDA,PREP, MOSAIC etc that train young scientists as they do research and were all terminated today on the same politically-motivated grounds.

I'm not a lawyer, but generally lawsuits like this will include agency directors and such in their official capacity too. But what you're trying to actually change is the government's actions, in this case forcing them to reinstate the grants. Suing RFK alone won't do that.
