This morning at breakfast my daughter asked what the saddest song I'd ever heard was. Thankfully, I had "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald" fresh on my mind, because that's a more acceptacle answer to give an 8-year-old ("remember, the one about the shipwreck?") than "If We Were Vampires"

Maybe I’m just super emo but I always thought the sentiment of “if we were vampires” was beautiful, and not really that sad on net the one that’s really just heartbreakingly sad for me is “elephant”

My head went immediately to Brick and I’m glad I can pocket Gordon Lightfoot in case this ever comes up at my table lol

I have a very enduring memory of seeing Ben Folds play in ~2005 and a couple making out heavily during "Brick" while @leereamsnyder.com yelled "IT'S ABOUT AN ABORTION" at them
