Never mind our warning. They have gone through the painful tariff war during Frump's first term. The farmers went bankrupt and had to be bailed out. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me. You can't fix stupid.

China went to Brazil for soybeans! Then Trump made his USMCA Best trade deal ever! Mexico and Canada bought more! Not anymore! Now Farmers well big farms Trump will give another $28 Billion in handouts to keep the big farms afloat?

Hey we didn't all vote for that stupid bastard. I tried my best to convince other farmers around here not to vote for him but they have memory loss. At the end of his first term we were only getting by because of govt payments. No votes needed for re election will = no govt payments this time.

Well, I bet the farmers who voted for this moron and who have been subsidized by the rest of us for decades are about to find out. I guess they forgot that the taxpayers foot the bill for those subsidies. I'm sorry you're caught up in it

Yes. The soybean farmers did but they still got a govt bail out so they didn't really suffer they way they would have. Farmers get so many subsidies yet are the first to complain about handouts and socialism.

He thought we were weak - we are more united as Canadians than ever- we have suffered worse before but we won’t be pushed by a bully and his delusional wish to annex us - not going to happen

Canadians have always had the US back. In my lifetime, when Iran fell to the extremist,The Canadian embassy hid many U S embassy personnel risking their lives for us! That selfless deed made me proud of Canada and that first Olympics; The outpouring of love to Canada’s team was so heartwarming!

My brother served beside American soldiers and personal in Afghanistan- historically we have always supported each other and hopefully we can continue supporting each other as friends and family-but as Canadians we are independent and proud of our country and that won’t change

Nor should it. What Trump is doing is so unAmerican. It goes against so many principles of our founding fathers. I will always defend Canada against anyone who seeks to hurt her even if it’s this sham of a political party. This is not the America i grew up in and i hope people wake up soon!

They knew because he had done it to them before but back then he took our tax dollars & bailed them out for their losses. It was a test run. I don't think he will bail them out this time. Small farmers will be forced out of business and large farmers will consolidate a bigger market share. Corp. win

This is the advent of MAGA entering the "find out" phase of the "fuck around" phenomenon. When you need a loan officer to make an omlette. Your lumber just shot up 25% As crops rot in fields all food is about to skyrocket..... They'll sing & dance to the blow job homage, "YMCA" & own the libs.

These boomer farmers are truly indoctrinated with what they watch, fox news, oan, Steve deace, Glenn beck, etc. I truly can't explain it, my parents 73 and 66 think Jan 6 was inside job and agree with the pardons. I've given up speaking rationally with Maga.

The dumb act doesn’t work a decade in. I thought Trump & heritage picked the conspiracy theory crowd for their low IQs & ability to believe nonsense but I think now it was more about likeminded white nationalists getting together on a racist hate agenda & defending the propaganda as if it was truth

I know it is easy to blame farmers. Deserved. But they are less than 2% of population. Also, running farmers out of business is the plan. The goal is that billionaires can finally buy all the farmland. That would definitely be worse. Time for unity against billionaires.

Not a single $ of my money should go to those white farmers in the future. Except, if they withdraw the case brought by white farmers over dispersion of $8 billion to black farmers in Joe Biden's infrastructure bill. Then once the dispersion starts & continues for a while I might support them.

brother-in-law is the same. He farms in IA, surrounded by Trump farmers, and has to keep his mouth shut because he also sells seed to them. He says it's been quiet since the election, and no breast-beating per usual...they were sure the checks would roll in. Maybe they are now wondering about that?

He also screwed over some farmers in California by unleashing water and flooding their farms…helping no one and hurting many. He is the Presidential equivalent of Munchausen by Proxy - he creates a problem and then acts like he will rescue it

As a farmer who votes for Biden, I echo your comments as I have been telling my fellow farmers this is exactly what would happen but of course they wouldn’t listen. This is going to get bad really fast.

You have been subsidized for so long, through Democratic and Republican Administrations, that when he takes all of that away, you are done. Time to build some apartments or something.

That’s the part I’m reeling from. It’s not like the message about tariffs wasn’t all over the news, social media, and everywhere else. They knew. They just pretended like he wouldn’t do the bad things he was saying he would do while telling us we were overreacting. This is the dumbest self own ever.

Most of them don’t even know what a tariff is. We watched in horror when multiple journalists would do a “word on the street” interviews with drump supporters, they had no idea what they were talking about, not even when the reporters explained what it was,did they believe them. What is that about?

Folks are tuned out. Social media and misinformation abound. The 4th Estate is on life support and normalizing Trump. And our culture more and more denigrates education. Put that all together and an election won on memes and vibes meant our electorate was totally disconnected from reality.

I’ve tried to get friends to watch Ben Stein in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off to understand tariffs at the simplest level, and they just laugh at the kids being bored, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised we are where we are

Yep, I live in a small, ruby red rural farming town. They will blame either Obama, Biden or both for their pain but they know better. I should have empathy for the farmers but I don't, I lost that years ago. Going to be an interesting planting time here if the tariffs extend into spring.

Stop referring to him by name. Stop emphasising the differences between Rep/Dems and focus on the policies the Reps are introducing that hurt EVERY American. Start bringing everyone together, sharing the same anger and frustrations. Then aim everyone back at the Rep administration that's causing it.

Thank you for this! Even though I understand anger & fear is their goal, I get so pissed off when my sperm donor says, "I voted for 'him' bc under Harris China would have attacked Taiwan & I fear for my youngest grandson." Who is from China but a U.S. citizen. The most idiotic BS ever 🤦‍♀️

How much pain does America have to suffer before they accept the damage to our economy will suffer? So much for the economic recovery we were experiencing under Biden’s watch.

What’s even more egregious than the tariffs themselves is that Canada has committed 1.6 billion dollars to address border problems which largely originate in the US—and still that cretin insists on following through with his plan. He is a stupid, malicious despot of the worst kind.

Farmers aren't stupid. They are well informed. I know - I grew up on a farm. They know what tariffs are, how they work. But for most of them, the racism & other bigotries are just more important.

Wait until the farmers in my area don't get paid for the government programs they love and sign up for on a regular basis or when there is no longer a market for thir crops

Project 2025 actually specifically talks about reducing/eliminating farmer subsidies under the claim that the American farm industry is thriving and farmers know what they're doing without government intervention. They mention the only scenario worthy of a bailout is a major natural disaster.
