You know damn well there won't be any tariffs on Russia. People have been screaming since 2016 about Putin holding this guy's leash and every time there was a chance to intervene and keep him on check, it was fumbled along party lines. This is what decades of toeing the line gets.

Russia means nothing in the global markets. It's tiny $2T GDP is only 65% of the market cap of Apple. Putin is a crime boss sucking all the wealth out of Russia. Trump and his cabinet want to run things the same way here. China is now the leader of the world's economy.

and yet the US under Biden was beating China in GDP growth. Russia is still one of the world's biggest producers of oil & gas - behind the US and Saudi Arabia. The US put tariffs on uninhabited & sparsely populated islands that have smaller GDPs than many small towns in the US

You really should use PPP GDP to match between countries. In 2025, China's GDP (PPP) is estimated at $39.44 trillion, while the US is estimated at $30.337 trillion. However, the US has higher per capita GDP primarily since we have 340.1 million people vs. 1.41 billion there.

Good point! I checked and saw that Iran is included in the list of countries affected by the Trump administration’s reciprocal tariffs. Iran faces a 10% tariff despite being under existing U.S. sanctions and embargoes. So why not apply the same to Russia?

Russia is selling uranium & chemicals to the US. Running a substantial trade surplus in their benefit. Maby they calculated the sanctions put on Russia. They make it so that Russia can’t buy certain goods from US. But in any way, it reeks..

on a global scale thats not huge..when billions was thrown out, i thought BILLIONS. but Putin is very happy right now. lets see how things go, since consumers have to consume for this whole thing to work. and that just got hella lot harder for average people to do. let alone us poor folks.

Ppl have to respond to everything Trump does as if he's a Russian asset (which he so clearly is.) I mean, putting tariffs on an island inhabited only by penguins but Russia is one of only a few countries that don't get tariffs? He's trying to weaken the US - QUIT PRETENDING ANY OF THIS IS NORMAL!

Ukraine gets a 10% tariff. Does anybody believe that Ukraine sells more to the USA than it buys? The truth is, Ukraine is among the 115 countries that USA has a trade surplus towards and should, following the algorithm get a negative tariff. The con man knows no shame. No tariff on Russia.

Also, as I said in another post - trade deficits have nothing to do with tariffs. VAT has nothing to do with tariffs. Tariffs is a loser's tool. A cutting edge nation has no need for tariffs. They are for those who need to protect shitty enterprises against foreign excellence. People like Trump.
