I know game journos are only ever aware of mainstream blockbusters and nothing else, but even among those we have stuff like Fallout 4... The whole hook of that game is that your baby got kidnapped and you're a mom on a mission to find him

Wow. Misogyny much? I guess the Gamers™ decided older women can exist in a game as long as they are a mom and they'd give her approval. As long as the game appeals to the incelbros it's a "real" game.

There is some real shit to be said about older generations of Grandmas sharing gaming with their young grandchildren via dominoes and cards. Probably some of the first "real adult" games I played were Chickenfoot with my Gran. Grandma games hard.

I dont understand how a journalist with Kate Cox's history could be so wildly misinformed about the existence of games with moms / motherly motivated stories. Super Metroid, a game made in 1994, was austensibly about a woman trying to save a Metroid that literally thinks shes its mom.
