Retro gaming folks! Help needed! So, unfortunately my PVM is toast and in need of some expert repair. I took it to someone local to help with vertical linearity and warmup issues, but after a recap of the power supply, main, and other boards, it's stuck in protection mode.

Sorry this doesn't help in Canada, but .. even in NYC it's tough. I might take a stab at New Hi-Tech for my pincushioned to hell PVM. unfortunately one of the most recommended people seems to be wildly maga :(

Hey there, I'm located in Victoria and have extensive expertise in this field and would be willing to sort it out for you if you like. Feel free to DM.

On the advice of @victorehunter.bsky.social, I'm going to reach out to The Hackery in Vancouver, but does anyone know of a CRT tech in the lower mainland or Vancouver Island that might be able to help? I've got the main board packaged separately from the monitor, in case I can ship it solo.

I'm obviously not going to ship the entire monitor to and from the US. Prohibitively expensive, and who knows if I'd ever even get it back.

Here're some of the messages I got from the dude. (He's a good dude with a lot of experience with older equipment, but the PVM was a bit outside his wheelhouse. I knew this going in and it was a risk I accepted.) Unfortunately, I don't have an easy way to alt text these with the full text.

We were originally trying to resolve some severe vertical linearity issues. To get acceptable results, I had to crank the vlin setting down to -50 (if I remember correctly, its maximum, at any rate), and the PVM would still need 10 minutes to warm up before the linearity was passable.
