OMNY is still way too glitchy to have this level of fare enforcement. I took 3 buses this past Saturday, but one of the OMNY taps just never registered despite the on-bus reader accepting my tap. So if the EAGLE team boarded that bus where the tap never registered, would they also try to assault me?

We did though? Like Metrocard worked fine in the 00s, fares were for the most part collected.

Bus operators used to tell people to pay the fare, and some would refuse to drive the bus until you paid, or got off. This basically stopped after one of them was stabbed to death in a fare dispute back in 2008.
