I, too, am NEVER making another political donation ever again.

Phil Lewis@phillewis.bsky.social

Voters are receiving so many political texts, calls and mailers that some are reconsidering ever donating to a campaign again “I must get at least 10-20 texts A DAY from literally every single candidate in the country," a Colorado voter said. "It makes me never want to make a contribution again"

What an absurdly nice day in NYC 11/10

Is the Fort Green Park Pup Parade one of the best days of the year? Yep! (sorry, there’s no alt text. The app and web crashed four times when I tried that)

Found an @mta.info 12-trip pass OMNY card, picked it up because I’ve never seen one. Now I’m just frustrated because there’s absolutely no way to see how many rides remain. The website doesn’t recognize it, not even the vending machine does. Only way is to tap for a ride until it stops working?!

I've been going through an allergic reaction to a medication for a few weeks now and last night was awful. I was in terrible shape in a lot of pain. And then the cat sat on my chest and started purring. The degree to which this helped calm me down is incredible. Cats always know!

Hi, I'm still alive! Even a purring cat couldn't cure me this time. Ended up in the ER on Sunday morning, but I'm ok and trending better now. I slept for the first time in weeks last night so I'm excited about that. Anything good happen while I was too tired to pay attention to the world this week?

The world has been in a state of never ending decline since the Windows XP RTM. It was the peak of modern civilization and society will never get back to that state.

this is a QUARTER CENTURY old now youtu.be/GAv1EwoRnec Back to 2001 on LGR today for a retrospective on Windows XP! Reminiscing on its release, unboxing and setting it up, new features, games, screensavers, and a bunch of nifty early 2000s things. Still a truly enjoyable eXPerience decades later!

90%! That final 10% feels next to impossible at this rate, though. It’ll be so unsatisfying to end at 99.4% forever or something.

JFK redevelopment update: New Terminal One having artwork (giant split-flap wall!) and finisings added, but will not open in 2026. Terminal 6 first gates still set for 2026 opening, with final systems testing and commissioning underway. Use of barges reduced truck milage by 5x more than thought!

OMNY is still way too glitchy to have this level of fare enforcement. I took 3 buses this past Saturday, but one of the OMNY taps just never registered despite the on-bus reader accepting my tap. So if the EAGLE team boarded that bus where the tap never registered, would they also try to assault me?

JetBlue's new BlueFirst cabin is now on sale. The first reconfigured plane is planned to enter service on 8 December between Boston and Fort Lauderdale (B6 769 southbound, 2270 northbound). Notably, the inaugural flight southbound is blocked from sale. #PaxEx $JBLU

Meanwhile, FAA is bringing back some old school smart stuff by reinstating and expanding a program that gets air traffic controllers hands-on flight deck experience. The programs aims to help controllers understand what it's like to be on the other end of the radio. www.faa.gov/newsroom/faa...

What the hell was Eric Adams doing selling a data center in Wisconsin? How did this happen? And why did it all go so wrong so very very fast? For @hellgatenyc.com I went to Wisconsin Rapids to find out, and add another chapter to the Eric Adams lore. hellgatenyc.com/eric-adams-w...

Wait, is there seriously a flex post protected HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGE LANE on Central Park South?! How have I never noticed this before and also WTAF. Why isn’t this a bi-directional protected bike lane? And why are horse drawn carriages even still a thing?

Time to repurpose that horse drawn carriage lane to an actual bike lane! bsky.app/profile/c-so...

New: Mayor Zohran Mamdani and City Council Speaker Julie Menin have reached a deal to abolish NYC's horse carriage industry — a critical breakthrough in a decadeslong, politically fraught effort to ban the tourist attraction. www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

I just realized that the Spirit Airlines app (yes, I still have it) no longer presents a pop up that the airline is dead, unlocking access to the rest of the app. You can now browse the final version of the Spirit app, complete with in-flight menu and Wi-Fi information. RIP.

I know basically nothing about Greene County Transit in upstate NY, but its 711 rotue has legit branding. "It's a River...Get Over it!" is great stuff.

More than 50 aircraft lined up waiting to take off from JFK right now. More than 50…

Janno Lieber likes to blame Mamdani’s free bus campaign and Covid for muddying the waters and worsening bus fare evasion. Meanwhile, Lieber’s own buses are confusing riders in multiple ways (this bus is not going to Court Sq!) by flashing a “FARE REQUIRED” message on a free subway replacement bus

Sorry the pictures from @amtrakcascades.wsdot.wa.gov Airo ride aren’t better. I was too amazed by how nice the train was and distracted by the amazing views.

I don’t know how any other provider of in-flight Wi-Fi survives in this new reality. Starlink is hoovering up almost every opportunity outside of China and India. All that’s left is scraps probably not sufficient enough to sustain a business. This worries me quite a bit.

Jason Rabinowitz@airlineflyer.net

Five months ago American announced it'd bring Starlink to 500+ Airbus narrowbody aircraft. Today AA has announced that it'll bring Starlink to its *entire fleet* of 1000+ aircraft, with installing beginning in early 2027. A long overdue shift since its widebody connectivity is basically dead today.

HMMMMMMM. Last time we saw a Dash-8 Q400 fly into LGA unexpectedly, Air Canada announced new YTZ-LGA service the next day. So I wonder why a Porter Q400 just flew into LGA this morning. Do it, Mr. Porter! bsky.app/profile/airl...

Air Canada making a "major announcement" tomorrow at Billy Bishop Airport, Toronto's downtown city airport. I hear there also happens to be an Air Canada Dash-8 Q400 at LGA right now doing some training work. HMMMMMMM I wonder if these two things are related. www.aircanada.com/media/media-...

Did JetBlue make a huge opposie? It looks like many (all?) of its flights were removed from the schedule for October 13-14, triggering cancelations and auto rebooking to adjacent days. I’m seeing no flights for sale those days, or even availability in ExpertFlyer 😲 www.reddit.com/r/jetblue/co...

I pretty regularly see tourist looking people hanging out with Citibike e-bikes, maybe unknowingly paying by the minute. But just now a girl parks her e-bike in CVS and gets on the back of the not moving pharmacy line. Are there Citibike plans that include unlimited e-bike usage or something?!

Jason Rabinowitz@airlineflyer.net

I’ll never understand these people who stop and do things as time consuming as having a meal while they’re paying BY THE MINUTE for a @citibikenyc.bsky.social e-bike. The bike fees are going to end up costing more than these tacos. Do they just not care, or do they not know?

Good afternoon and welcome on board @united.com flight UA1708, with nonstop service from SEA to EWR. At some point since my last time here United moved from the nice A gates to the awful B gates. There’s just not enough space down here for modern aircraft. Anyway, it’s a 737-8 on the job today.

Another totally normal @united.com flight in the books. This 737-8, despite being just 3 years old, is starting to show some signs of aging. I pre-ordered the Chicago Patty Melt by Jeff Mauro and Pork Mojo Burrito. The “patty melt” was a cheeseburger but with worse bread. The burrito was good!
