Exactly. Holmes had the gall to do what men do and expect the same privileged protection.

I think Holmes' other crime was promising something that would have actually been useful if it hadn't been vaporware. Musk is selling toys, telling us that they are cool, and delivering semi-functional betas. He gets away with it because it's like Fox: entertainment no one should take seriously.

Came here to say this too. Does any comparable male figure from tech - in terms of money or influence - have as many critical books, feature films, documentaries, memes (!) dedicated to them? Doesn’t feel like it; feels like a strong enough strain of misogyny to feel uncomfortable about it.

Am not interested in defending Elizabeth Holmes. Just don’t have to talk about her forever either. Do, uh, Elon Musk, Palmer Lucky, Jeff Bezos, Peter Thiel, Marc Andreeson, Alex Karp, Mark Zuckerberg deserve to be at least as notorious, incarcerated, ridiculed, banished? Seems like it! Far more so!
