Post

Earlier, I made a post about the effects of federal cuts to NOAA/NWS & took a lot of heat for it. Out of an abundance of caution, I deleted the post. And yet here we are - watching this meteorologist confirming what I said:

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

Also, if we do get hit hard, FEMA might not be there for you. Got family in Arkansas or North Carolina? Ask them about that. But hey, we're really showing those immigrants who's boss!

Cuts to NOAA/NWS continue to have devastating effects:

After media reports & experts warned for months that drastic & sudden cuts at the Nat Weather Service by Trump could impair their forecasting ability & endanger lives during the storm season, TX officials blame an inaccurate forecast by NWS for the deadly results of the flood.

I sympathize with the families who lost loved ones. That sucks regardless of politics. 💔 I REALLY sympathize with the NOAA/NWS folks who are still devoted to their jobs amidst funding slashes and hostility. I know that they must be devastated. These are the results they work so hard to prevent.

Which one of 47’s cronies has private sector capabilities in this field? Since one goal is to privatize as many services as possible, seems like a good time to discredit the agency to that aim.

I missed what you said but it gives me pause when an #AltFam had to delete something because of heat. That lets me know it was extremely important! I hope you don’t feel like you have to do that again. Living in Missouri, I’d know nothing about what is really happening if it weren’t for you guys. 🫂

Ay, Grasshoppa, you are much more thoughtful than I. I saw it today and posted immediately. (But your post makes perfect sense. Caution has never been one of my virtues.) Bless this dear meteorologist for his no bullshit presentation.

It’s a combo. NWS put out a flash flood warning three hours in advance, but state and local officials ignored it because “small government.” Notifications don’t get pushed from NWS because of budget cuts.

These cuts will endanger all of us living in areas that are targeted by hurricanes. On all coasts and inland. John Morales told it like it is. He made sure we knew how these cuts will affect us. Keep speaking the truth! Post the heat and threats. We have your six.

I watch Ryan Hall for weather forecasts now. He mentioned he sells weather alert radios, which are now hard to come by because of tariffs. Almost bought one, but didn't. Thought, it will literally sit silent if no one is left at NOAA to post alerts of deadly storms. How many Reps in FL will die now?
