Trump can put a million-percent tariffs on Denmark, and it still doesn't change the answer about Greenland. There are only two possible endings to this bizarre story. Either Trump gives up, or else he goes through with a military invasion.

Yes, and its time for european leaders to stop playing around. Not escalate, just simply saying ”no, you will not get Greenland, end of discussion” if after the latest meeting he responds with tariff wars then apparently he is not interested in discussion, so lets just stop the discussion?

Several retaliatory tariffs have still been pending since his latest tarrifs. Same goes for measures against tech giants, especially X. This is going to far and can't be that easily tolerated like the earlier tariffs. Expect US-EU trade to break down. BTW: X is mostly useless now, just a sewer.

Excluding the United States, there are 30 NATO member countries. Most of these NATO members hold United States, Treasury bonds. I wonder what the Federal Reserve would say if those 30 NATO member states told the Federal Reserve, if the US invaded Greenland that they would dump their bonds.

Thats great , It would be a masive blow if it is put in the market. Higher interest rates because of no thrustfull goverment. Everything wil folow up then.

It would leave him in a position where he could no longer pressure the Federal Reserve to lower interest rates, because interest rates would skyrocket. This could be a way to end this without firing a shot.

Strategic redistribution of 3 Trillion to sensible nations could be a very good thing. The U.S. would suffer for a time but it would also cause a correction in Congress and White House.

Anders, I think the really worrying part of the story is that they want (and maybe will succeed) in turning Greenland into a crack that collapses the EU, essentially by dividing the continent into US and EU loyalist countries. You can see it by how they selectively avoided some countries in the list

The invasion has zero chances to happen. Europe would not have any other option to deny the Americans the access to their European military bases. How would the USA operate as a global superpower? The backlash would be so incredibly large... Geopolitical and economical

They don't want that. USA will turn into a regional power. Europe would have to increase the defense investment but will stop buying from the USA. Military production needs volume, and allies are important also because of that. Otherwise everything gets even more ridiculously expensive.

The US wants to be that regional power. They would say RU - its all yours, take of EU what you want and can get - we even send you support. The US would use RU to destroy us. So, we are going to have to fight RU anyhow.

Or he drops the tariffs and threatens to hinge US support for Ukraine on acquiring Greenland. That seems to be more feasible for him both legally and politically than the tariffs (as long as the Supreme Court hasn’t weighed in on the latter). When that happens the EU has a new dilemma.

It seems like EU / Nato allies needs to start applying pressure the other way. How do you see the possibility of USA/Trump leaving Nato, and how that possibility would affect the political system in USA?

Need to stop all trade with US and and kick every single US military base out of all EU countries and all our territories immediately. The US is more of a rogue state than China. Don't give a shit about US tarrifs and mirroring tarrifs should be in place. UK has limited trade with US anyway.

There is movement towards impeaching & removing Trump but then we get President Vance whose marriage was arranged by a literal MSS spy. What would President Vance do differently?

The orange guy is a taco-man. He always chickens out, as soon he feels strong resistance. And I'm sure, the resistance will be enormous (and not only from the people in Denmark and Greenland)

An incredible number of US commentators and politicians seems to believe that it's just posturing to increase the price. Some surely know that's not the case. But the rest simply cannot imagine that countries might dare oppose the US just on principle.

It is also outright weird that Miller, or whoever wrote this for Trump, does not fundamentally understand how EU works. How do you even sanction individual countries within a fully integrated free market zone?

I wonder if Congress and the people in US have actually been informed what exactly is the "golden dome" for which Krasnov is ready to sacrifice all allies, trade relations and US's international reputation for years to come?

With the release of the letter today, it should be increasingly publicly obvious the man belongs in a senior care facility. There’s only so much his handlers can do to rein him in. They are all trying to ride his success to benefit themselves, but sooner than later, they’ll just go down with him.

The other way to look at it is that he is trying to smash NATO, because that’s what a lot of folks in his circle want, because that’s what Putin wants and he clearly has their ear. But I dunno, Occam’s razor leads me to dementia instead of conspiracy.

Is it possible that the military would refuse to follow an order to invade an allied country? I mean congress needs to declare war in order for such an order to become ”legal”. I feel like such an action by the current regime would be the start of a US civil war.

Europe needs to take its gloves off. We can get the US oligarchs to reign in Trump by hitting them in their pockets. Europe needs to impose punitive tariffs on US tech companies. Google, Amazon, Apple, Tesla etc. Tariffs now. And they remain until Trump backs down or is gone...

This man and Maga must go out now, but how? It is completely insane. Even thinking about consequences is literally painful. Greenland and Denmark, friends, you have my full support whatsoever will come.

In theory Trump can't invade without going through congress - the Republicans are a bit of a joke, but it might be hard to get even them to agree to declaring war on Nato allies..he could do it without going through congress, but then the USA will be in biggest legal/political crisis since civil war

@anderspucknielsen.dk Time to show him his weaknesses. My suggestion for #Europe would be: – Stop buying US Treasury bonds – Sell US Treasury bonds – Get others to sell US Treasury bonds The dollar would fall sharply; the consequences would be immediate & painful. If the dollar falls, Trump falls.

There are guardrails in place to secure USA can’t demolish NATO alliance on a presidential whim as mentioned here… not that laws have been a major concern during this presidency

2/ Congress needs to put a stop to this shameful and reckless Greenland gambit now. Here’s Alberto Mora’s latest on how a law already on the books cuts off funds for an action that would result in NATO’s destruction: www.justsecurity.org/128930/prese...

It's time Europe (both EU and non-EU members) stop trying to appease the dictator. It is counter-productive, as it only leads to escalation from USA. We must stand up to him. Carney did, and the dictator hasn't talked about the "52. state" since.

I've had enough of this. Look at the deadline — he wants Greenland as a gift for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Wow, with Trump, the land of the free has become nothing more than another lawless mafia state.

Either that, or he is a Russian asset. Or both… Europe and Ukraine should funnel all resources into getting a hold of these Epstein files. I am 100% convinced there must be really damning stuff there. Epstein was living for collecting kompromat, and quite possibly worked with/sold to Russia

trump claims one just need a quick look at the globe. OK! just a quick search for military airfields and their distance to greenland. Hanscom airfield seems the closest in the US, with a 1588 miles distance, and Aalborg, Denmark with 1320 miles distance.
