When America’s greatest generation fought the Nazis during World War 2, it’s doubtful they could have imagined a universe where Germany is a more trusted ally to the rest of Europe than the United States but here we are.

America does not like to see the truth & face it (for example the history of Native Americans & their past & current treatment & the history of Black Americans & their past & current treatment) So, no real accountability no reason to learn and do better or be better. Constantly placating.

As a once extremely patriotic American, this breaks my heart. Being nearly 68 now, there’s a decent chance I may not live to see Democracy lassoed back in. That would be extremely sad. I desire children to grow up with hope and respect that America can once more thrive with decency and empathy.

Why doesn’t a great country like the US protect its people from a Nazi? Why aren’t the good guys removing enemies in charge of our government, threatening the American people, dismantling our government, taking much needed services away from the people, and abandoning our NATO friends??? WHY?

It's the good guy dilemma. If we did those things, we would be as bad as those we depose. In order for the republic to stand for the people, the people must stand for the republic.

“The primary priority of this government will be to ensure that Europe can achieve full strategic independence from the US in the defense against Russia.” - Friedrich Merz, incoming German Chancellor

The Greatest Generation fought fascism, not so America could embrace it decades later. Germany learned from history yet the U.S./Trump is inviting Fascism. Betraying allies weakens us and empowers dictators. This is a disgrace. America must stand for democracy before it’s too late

WWII was a LONG time ago, both in geopolitics and culture. I'm finding the constant drum of referrals to that era of fascism a little precious and ineffective politically. I get that it's supposed to invoke the horrors of the era, but most people don't get that.

My father was a B24 pilot, stationed in England in the 8th Air Force. They bombed Germany all day every day, and he used to say, “I wasn’t bombing Germans; I was bombing Nazis.” Who will bomb us? I won’t blame ‘em…
