Hey! Do we do hiring announcements here? Gonna try it out: We’re hiring at Fastly, and I can vouch for it being a good place to work, having been here a year now. First up, an engineering manager for our brilliant developer relations team. We’d get to scheme together. grnh.se/5eb4ff561us

Curious if a person who has no existing devrel xp but has 15 years IC xp, 5 years xp managing engineers, req gathering from stakeholders/vendors, and excellent writing/comma skills fits?

The highest praise I can offer is that Fastly bought @glitch.com a year ago, and I’m still super excited about what we’re doing (cool stuff on Monday!) and feel like our whole team has been taken care of. I haven’t had a regular job or boss in many years, but I’m genuinely enjoying doing this work.

Anil I would apply in a heartbeat but on-site work requirements during a pandemic are effectively a gate keeping disabled people out, even if that’s the only problem. There is no way to justify or excuse it, and honestly I know you to be someone who gives a shit about this stuff so I’m raising it.

A close friend of mine just started looking for a new job and they're a near-ideal candidate for your "Principal Software Engineer - Language Runtimes" role, passing this along to them. If you have anyone who might want to reach out the other way, his github is https://github.com/sellout

I like how you approached this — there are lots of people out there looking for work. I get that the community here has a lot of engineers so this makes sense. I also know that marketing people were cut in the layoffs but not sure if bsky is a good place for those postings. Goes for writers, too.

I think for this particular role there’s an expectation of being able to help host or lead events for the community in our NYC office, but in general I agree these things shouldn’t be overly tied to place.

I get needing to be in NYC to do the job itself - my question is about why I couldn’t apply if I lived in (say) Boise but was willing to relocate. (I’m not looking for a job, but I’m legitimately curious about the posting.)
