I have been saying for ~15 years that government agencies cannot require people to go to private social media services for vital public information. This is exactly fucking why. Multiple federal agencies RIGHT NOW require being logged into a site that promotes a second holocaust if you want updates.

Whew, THIS part, @anildash.com. True Story: I worked FT running StratComms in a CA State Agency last year that I won’t name here. When I recommended last Fall that the Agency shut down its Official X account due to increasing #NAZI accounts there, guess what? I was accused of being “too partisan.” 🫢

Spoiler: I left that Agency (which btw serves a very Politically *precious* constituency) early this year. My Lesson: some WHITE gatekeepers will deploy all manner of Identity Politics / Non-Partisan pretenses whenever it suits their aims / allows them to demonize TruthTellers. Orwellian HAT TRICKS.

In the case of Kerrville, or in the case of small town disaster, in this class of vital public information, why isn’t the emergency alert system the go to? I know Kerr County thought the Motorola CodeRed system that’s opt in. Use of EAS/WEA seems much more reliable. And Kerr county has IPAWS access.
